Some Pekin ducks will go broody, some will not. There has been no selection for egg laying or broodiness over the centuries, so it is hit and miss on whether or not you've got one that will go broody.

There is now a strain off egg laying Pekin, but broodiness is generally discouraged when egg laying is being bred for. Broodiness stops egg production.

The book I read and I swear by it, says Pekin ducks were bred for eggs and meat and if you want baby pekins you pretty much have to put them under a broody hen or incubator. I was going to put some under one of my muscovy hens next yr.

I am going to hazard a guess: Storey's Guide to Raising Ducks??

LOL that one is pretty popular huh?!
