I have 3 Pekins, one female and two males. I know this isn't a good combination. So my problem is, one male "the leader" is pecking at the females neck, removing feathers and making her bleed. I've read this is normal for having two many males. However, this male is so sweet and loves to be held and petted. I have someone who will take one of the ducks but I can't make up my mind who should go. Does anyone know if the male who pecks feather will do it again to the other male if I give away the female? Or what if I keep him w/ the female, will he continue if the other male is gone? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have two days to decide who will go and it's sooo hard for me cause I love that male duck. Thank you.

I think It's normal for a pekin female to get a bald spot duing mating season. We have one drake and five ducks and every one of the females has a small bald spot right now.

Will it ever stop? All "Lucky" (the male who pecks her) does is chase her around the yard. She doesn't have this problem with the other male. In fact, I have her with him all night and "Lucky" is by himself in when they aren't roaming the yard. Will Lucky peck the other male if the female is gone?

What the heck is "his gear"..LOL Or do I not want to know this.

Really....good thing to know. Now I won't freak out and take him to the vets when I find "his Gear" detached in his bedding. YIKES!

If you do find it save it for someone you know who is losing their hair. Ground and mixed with ground ginger root to form a paste it is a traditional Chinese cure for male pattern baldness.
