Hello All -

At the top of Pebbles leg (6 month old Pekin), at what I would call her hip - there appears to be a bump, which becomes more apparent when she’s sitting.

Unfortunately I believe it may have happened due to our drake when they were on the porch for a moment due to a snow storm.

I’ve been providing ibuprofen, with dosage based on what I found on a post within BYC. She’s also being given warm baths with epsom salt/salt. I’ve been applying green goo as well, to hopefully help with the bruise/hot spot. I’ve kept her in the last few days instead of hanging out outside, to stay warm.

Wondering if there are any other recommendations or thoughts on what should be done?

A picture might help if you can get one. Does the area feel swollen? Is it tender? Is she able to walk?

It feels a little swollen and warm to the touch, but not necessarily tender. I’m able to touch the area without her flinching. She can get up and stand, and walk a little bit, but usually hasn’t done much walking as of yet.

Ok
That was for the avian/poultry vet. I haven’t called other places, but I know it can be challenging to find places that see birds.
OK. If it is dislocated, you should be able to find the end of the leg bone. It will surely not feel like it's connected. You should also be able to find where the hip joint is. If you line it up correctly, you should be able to pop it back in.

@chanceitup , I cannot see much in the picture you provided - please provide more details pertaining to the bump you're seeing. Is the bump hard, does wiggle at all, how wide would you say the bump is? if you wet down the skin underneath does the provide any clues to what the bump is made up of?

Is the bump in line/correlation to her leg bone?
