So if you have read any of my previous posts you will know that I rescued a couple of ducklings from a local lake several weeks ago. One of them is a Pekin drake. A week or two after I rescued them I noticed what appeared to be mud on the Pekin’s bill, on about the middle of the top. When it didn’t wash away during his “bath time” in the water I realized it was probably dried blood with some dirt mixed in. After a couple of days it did wash off and in the spot where it was, his bill was pink and looked “raw”. For lack of a better description, it looked like it had been burned but was starting to heal.
It seems to get a little better and the orangish color comes back but then it will start to turn a little pink again. I have not seen any more blood/dirt at all. Now today I noticed a small spot on the very top of his bill is looking a little pinkish. Still no blood or dirt. He eats, drinks, bathes/plays in the water. His poops are normal.
I am wondering if it could be some kind of fungal infection? Pics to follow..
