So if you have read any of my previous posts you will know that I rescued a couple of ducklings from a local lake several weeks ago. One of them is a Pekin drake. A week or two after I rescued them I noticed what appeared to be mud on the Pekin’s bill, on about the middle of the top. When it didn’t wash away during his “bath time” in the water I realized it was probably dried blood with some dirt mixed in. After a couple of days it did wash off and in the spot where it was, his bill was pink and looked “raw”. For lack of a better description, it looked like it had been burned but was starting to heal.
It seems to get a little better and the orangish color comes back but then it will start to turn a little pink again. I have not seen any more blood/dirt at all. Now today I noticed a small spot on the very top of his bill is looking a little pinkish. Still no blood or dirt. He eats, drinks, bathes/plays in the water. His poops are normal.
I am wondering if it could be some kind of fungal infection? Pics to follow..

Pics aren’t great and he had a little downy feather stuck to it but I think you can see the spot pretty good.
Any ideas?

Are you putting anything topical into it? Maybe right before bed if you have Veterycin or something similar spray real good let it dry then cover with an ointment. This will only work if they don’t have food an water over night. As for fungal not sure what meds are safe to use. @Isaac 0

I have not put anything on it as it seems to be healing pretty well on it’s own. Also, I wasn’t sure what to put on it because I don’t know what the cause of it is. I think I will contact my vet and maybe a general topical antibiotic type ointment might be helpful?..
I do keep a smaller water dispenser in their duck house for them to have overnight. I will call vet on Monday. Thought I would ask here anyway. I have had pretty good luck with helpful advise. Thanks for the input. Update to follow..
