My 3 year old Pekin bantam won't drink and her comb is very pale. She still pecks around on the ground and eats and I gave her some spinich this morning and she pecked at that okay too.

She seems very tired and will tuck her head under and sleep all the time until I wake her to try to give her water.

I have tried to give her water on a teaspoon and managed to get a little in (will get an eyedropper as soon as the shops open) and I've put water on the ground where she has been pecking so hopfully she has got a little in that way. The water is treated with vitamins and they always have this so it is something she is used to.

I have 7 other hens and they are all perfectly fine.

We are expecting some very hot days ahead close to 40C so I really want to get this fixed, I can't get her into the vet until Monday.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Have you wormed her lately?
Is her poo normal?
I have pekin chickens and the hens seem to get a paler face when they go broody
Also have you checked for mites?
Watermelon is good to give them when it is really hot we have been in the 40s here in nsw its a killer
Has she lost weight at all?
Have you checked her crop isnt impacted ?
Soz about all the questions lol

haha, made me realise all the things I should've included!

- I haven't wormed her lately, but will do tomorrow
- poops seem normal
- she's definately not broody, that's the other Pekin! hee hee
- can't see any mites and she doesn't seem to be scratchy at all
- great minds think alike, I gave her watermelon and she's eating that
- not sure about her weight cause she's always been on the light side
- how do I check for impacted crop? It seems on the full side, as though she has just eaten.

Thanks for your help!!
