I have a male Pekin who hasn't been walking much and if he does walk he uses his wings for stability or he like flys but doesn't leave the ground. His legs do look a little swollen but I can't compare his legs to my female Pekin since I can't catch her. He seems to be favoring his right foot more. He's been like this for a month or two and it for sure isn't bumblefoot. I'm at the point where I don't want him suffering if he is and wondering if I should put him down. I don't want to but I'm at that point.

Can you send us a picture of under his foot, please? Just in case. Sometimes, bumblefoot can be just a tiny little speck.

Also, are you adding any extra niacin to their diets? Pekin are large breeds and need to have their food fortified with it for their whole lives.

I'll send a picture of his foot when I get back home. I'm not adding any extra because the female Pekin is doing just fine but maybe I should start

That definitely seems more swollen than it should be and is probably an injury or infection. Can he be seen by a vet? Otherwise you'll probably have no way of knowing. If you put him down, does his partner have other ducks?

He can't be seen by the vet, we don't have any vets around that would see him. His partner can hang around other ducks and she will be fine. I just bought niacin to help him if that's the problem

If he's having to use his wings to stabilize himself you should try to limit his walking as much as possible - put him in a small area with plenty of water and his food, but where he can still see the other ducks and feel part of the group. I hope it helps, but I honestly think with that swelling he's got a bigger issue going on.

Ok I'll put him in a smaller run I have with food and water tomorrow and see if that helps. I've done that before but felt bad and took him back out

Don't feel bad for him, it's what he needs. A large crate would be better.

The niacin won't work over night. He'll need to be immobilized for at least a week until you start seeing improvement. You can also allow him very short swim times, to help take the weight off and as physical therapy.

If you are in the States and have access to it, get some antibiotics. Put it over a treat, like peas or mealworms and make sure he eats it all. It might also be good to get some Vitamin B complex. The bottle says injectable for bovines, but just do the same with the food. It's even better than plain niacin. That can be used after he's recovered.

@Miss Lydia anything I forgot?

It's a little hard to tell from the photos because his feet are dusty, I know it's a pain, but maybe you could rinse them off and take pictures again. The first one did look like it might be a large bumble on the heal, but I can't tell for sure.
