Aha! What you are looking for is a Silver Appleyard. large, very calm ducks. Easy going, excellent egg layers. Beautiful to look at.

But coming from Metzer Farms and they don't have those - it was one I considered until I checked out the list.

If I order today, I'll order the pekin (and sneak in my blue runner girl) and a WH for my coworker.
But I'll hold off until Friday. So who knows what I'll be ordering then LOL

I have WH! My hens are wonderful layers! Very calm. The drake gets a bit moody when I get near his ladies. But the hens are just dolls!

I've always wanted a pekin! Their so cute! I just wanna snuggle them!

I would suggest buff ducks. They are very calm from what I hear. And very good layers. Pretty to look at to!

My WH female I have now is the loudest duck I've ever had.

What I notice about the Pekins vs my others so far is that over all the Pekins are actually quieter than the others when nothing's going on. Get them excited and they can get loud. Reminds me of a dog. The other ones just squeak more randomly and frequently over all but the Pekins when excited can be quite loud. I considered getting a pair of geese but maybe the Pekins will do for now? haha

Are you set on Metzer's Farm? There are other options if you want Appleyards...
