Pekin walking on knees...should I be worried?

I got my 3 pekins last year at the 4h auction for our pond. My first Pekin that I hatched on my own was 2.5 weeks ago, but he's having some problems that we are trying to get resolved

Hi i have a rouen duck who was at least 7 months old and he got the same thing. the vets said that he would never walk again and i became really depressed. then i found an article on niacin and i went to the shops, bought some, crushed it , put it in a syringe with a little water and put it down his gullet. the next morning he was standing after almost 3 months of not walking at all. after a week of treatment he was fine and walking again. i have a few videos of him now on my youtube channel some of which contains him on a bus and train. check it out and you can see how he walks and stands fine.

Marwan,
Thanks for the encouragement. I guess I need to go get some tablets and a syringe. I have been trying the brewer's yeast and I haven't noticed an improvement yet. But maybe it just isn't getting enough of the food that has the yeast sprinkled on it. I have noticed my Golden 300 is sitting down a lot and I think she might be having the same issue. :( We've only had them 5 days so far. But, thankfully, other than
that everyone seems to be healthy. No life threatening diseases.

Yh i tried brewers yeast and bananas which is apparently suppose to have it but the thing is with those things is that it has trace amount. with the tablets its a full dose. You only want to use a little bit. perhaps half a quarter of a 200mg tablet or a quarter of a 100mg one. too much aint no good and dont be scared to hold its mouth open wide. make sure you get the tip of the syringe deep because if you squirt it in tis mouth it will spit most of it out. your aiming to squirt it into its gullet.also use one of those medicine syringes like the ones for babies to give them antibiotics. not a metal tipped one. hope all goes well. :D

GOOD LUCK!!

Zooweemama,
That is a fabulous idea! And much easier than trying to get a duck to swallow something they don't want to.

its ok but if your going to do it that way you need to up the dosage because they do dabble alot but the amount of water they actually drink considering the amount they manage to get it everywhere its just easier that way. my duck just let me do it. the first time it took a bit or holding him but afterwards he just relaxed and let me do it. also it takes effect faster that way as oppose to in thier drinking water.

I crushed up three tablets in their large waterer. Here's hoping to see improvement within the next two or three days. If not, then we'll go the forcing it down their gullet route. ;)

Here is a pic of the Pekin with the leg problems...any ideas on how to correct this? We are still giving it niacin via vitamins and brewer's yeast. It gets around just fine but I just hate seeing it like this. We have only had the duck a week and a half. :(
