Pekin with droopy eyelid. Is it a problem?

Okay, I just put meds in my sweet Tuppins eye. She was good as gold and just stood there - she's my friendliest duck. So last week when I started this thread I went to the grange right away, but they talked me out of getting the meds because they said usually there's goopy yellow stuff coming out of the eye if you need to use antibiotics. Since Tuppins didn't have that, and she'd looked this way for a couple months, I decided to hold off. And I'm out in their pen 4-5 times a day, and haven't noticed any change in her until just this morning. One eye is clearly in trouble, but the other eye actually looks pretty normal. So hoping these meds do the trick because I've been to the vet way too many times already with Penny. I'm feeling duck discouragement right now. All three of the pekins I received from Metzer Hatchery have had medical issues. The first 4-5 months of owning them was so much fun, and ever since then its been medical issues every day. I think I'm doing everything as best as I can to give them a healthy environment and diet, and a happy life, so not sure what else can be done, but feeling like duck ownership is a bust at this point. With one bright note, and that is my welsh harlequins just started laying. Well at least I got 5 eggs 3 days in a row, and I only have the 3 pekins and 3 welsh. Now if I could just get off antibiotics so we can start eating them.
I hope you get it all worked out!

Please don’t give up on ducks...they are sooo wonderful....it’s just.....challenging at times. I was having a hard time with my goat struggles....and some friends reminded that I was at making it harder than it needed to be...I’m not saying that pertains to you...but maybe sometimes that be all of us? If it doesn’t hurt her...perhaps wait and see before action? I don’t know....I’m just trying to help ease your woes :)

When will you hear about Penny? So very sorry your going through this with your ducks I would go ahead an treat the eye if you have the meds if it’s only with the eye hopefully with a 3-4 days of treatment will make a big difference.

Thanks. I'm going to treat in hopes it helps. I'll get Penny's results in 5-10 days, and I have follow-up with the doc next Thursday. Hopefully we'll have them back by then so we can discuss the options.

@Miss Lydia I used the meds you recommended and I am so grateful and happy to report that my pekin Tuppins is doing much better. I think her eye might be close to back to normal, but I won't know for sure until I go off the meds as I think they are discoloring the area around the eye a bit so it's hard to tell for sure. But all redness is gone. I'm so glad I got the medicine! Thank you very much.

@Miss Lydia No word on Penny yet. I have a recheck on Thursday and I'm not sure if I'll hear before then or not. I'll post the results - if there are any! She seems as robust as ever, though it looks bad under her feathers and she's stopped eating the peas I offer her after I give her the antibiotic :(

@Miss Lydia, yes she's still eating! And foraging around just like the other ducks, and even beating up on the little welshes. She's not supposed to swim for a week due to her biopsy stitches, but she tries to take the cutest little baths by the water bowl - trying so hard to stay clean. Poor thing! I hope it's treatable, but it's so wide-spread over her whole body now I don't hold out much hope.
