Pekin x khaki Campbell

I have 14 chickens and 2 ducks (now 3)
So my ducks-pekin male and khaki Campbell female mated and produced this.. why does she look like a chicken and not like either of her parents ?

What do you mean, she looks like a chicken? Are you sure about the pekin?
Almost every domestic duck breed are derived from mallards( what your hen looks like) and it's not unusual for to breeds or two different colors to create babies that don't look like either parent.

Her pattern is more like a chicken. My pekin is pure white and looks exactly like a pekin and my
Khaki Campbell is light brown and looks exactly like a basic light brown duck. (Just like all khakis look)
we have about 8 eggs that are about to hatch in 14 days .. I’m wondering what those will look like.

I don't remember what article it was, but there are ton of colors hidden under the Pekin white. You never know what color genetics are hidden under a Pekin. @Miss Lydia , I believe knows the article I am thinking of.

@Quatie i remember it to but where we saw it is beyond me right now. @New duck mommy 2021 has Pekin mama KC dad and hopefully she'll post pictures of her new ducklings. It's amazing how different they can all look.

Mine are still Babies but the older 4 all had the same 4 yellow dots on their back and sane face markings. The youngest baby doesn’t have the 4 dots on the back They were born dec 24 for 1 dec 25 for 2 dec 28 for 1 and Jan 10 for the last one
I had a staggered hatch in my incubator and then mom decided she would go broody shortly after but only one of hers hatched that she didn’t accept

I am seeing more of a reddish brown in the darker two getting feathers now

I hope my babies have patterns like this
I love the look of your duck.
I was thinking the khaki Campbell was created from mallards so possibly when we cross breed it may cause them to revert back to more of the mallard look
Do you have pictures of when yours was little?

Yeah. That is the article I was thinking about. I am a bit curious what is hiding behind my pekin too.
