Pekins too noisy. There's got to be something I can do...

If my pekins are full, they don't make any noise at all. They only get loud when they want food. And I have 14 of them.

As I'm reading this, I just turned an asked my husband if he thinks our ducks are loud. He looked at me like I'm nuts. LOL

He agrees with me. We don't think our 6 Pekins are loud at all. We have 6 Pekins and 2 Calls and we barely hear them. AND they're right next to our house. LOL

Once in a while, Lucy, our oldest female with let our one loud quack, just one but thats it. When she does that, we all burst out laughing!!

We must have strange ducks because ours are really quiet. Out of 8 ducks we have 5 females and 3 males.

No, they get fed at 5am and then at 5pm.

They have lots of grass to graze on and stuff but nope they devour their food by 6am and the rest of the day they graze on grass, bugs, lizards, whatever comes into their pens.

At 5pm, they get fed again. Food bowl is empty by 6 and they're right back to grazing and looking for bugs.

The only time they really get loud is if we go to give them snacks...ie mealworms, kale, mustard greens. They see us coming with the snack bowl and they freak out.

We constantly reseed their grasses so they have tons of that to eat. LOL

Welp, I started telling them "NO!", like I would to the dog. I kinda get in their face a little bit and make it sound harsh, because a normal no does nothing.

I had four pekins (now three). Mine aren't loud unless I'm standing outside, they're out of food, or I'm letting them out for the day. My oldest hen is really sweet and not that noisy really. The babies are loud but only if they see me. Their pen is next to the house and we don't hear them.

I feed my pekings late of a night, I put their food out under the security light. This way they can eat without fighting with the chickens. I hardly hear from them after that.

I have mine about 6 feet from my house and I dont hear them during the day. All I hear is my rooster....who likes to crow constantly. I have 3 females and one drake (I think) and the only time they make alot of noise is when im out there.

I decided to re-home my pekin today because the final straw was a wake up quacking at 3 am. That was about it for me. Sadly I liked her the best, but I sent her to a guy out in the country that has a beautiful pond and other ducks. I also let her 2 other buddies go along with her. I am left with 3 very quiet khaki hens so I'm sure I'll be getting sleep now. I'll just maybe be a little sad ;-( How can ducks grow on you THAT much!!??
