Our 9 month old Silkie hen is still not her normal self. I think it is parasites that cannot be seen in her fecal matter. I believe she might be in between cycles as she is a bit better on pecking at her vent area as well as her vent is not constantly wet from passing a clear liquid out. She would squawk in frustration and then try to preen or help herself fell better. I did try garlic minced in their brown rice several times. They were on garlic prior to their onset of their maturation into egglaying. As usual ACV is in their drinking water ,cleaned out and replaced 2x daily. Food grade DE is in their coop as sell and the chooks are cleaned out lighly daily and one time a week total replacement of bedding etc.I did notice flies in their sprouts I started in kitchen and promptly santized the sprout grower and restarted wheat berries.I do not know if they received a batch in thnis condition as it is possible I did not notice the flies right awsay and they are given sprouts 2 times a week. I might of offered it to them and they had flies hatching. Pele is the lead chook . I do know that she gobbles the sprouts more than the rest of the flock. She appears thinner but still good appetite. They are given fresh produce thru out the day and all is cleaned up as I never leave them with dirty food bowls. I do not want to impose a strong chemical on or in them and know there must be something else I can do.I get eggs from all of them and they are given a healthy balance of both grain, fish veggies etc.
She is not losing feathers . When she first started being uncomfortable her flock were trying to get at her vent now they do not for she is not doing it as much .They also dust bathe at times
It is difficult to know if she is still laying..
