Pellets and Crumbles

I switched mine from crumbles to game-bird higher protein pellets and they took a couple days to get used to them. There is a LOT less waste, so feed costs are lower and by using the higher protein feed, I easily supplement with wheat, oats, comfrey and kale and still have excellent egg production and quality. I'm very pleased with the results.

I must have the most un-picky chickens ever. I switched them to pellets when their chick starter ran out and they ate them right up. Then we switched them back to crumbles when they were ready for layer feed and they ate those right up. They eat everything.

I switched to Layena Pellets as well, and my pullets would not eat them! They would cluck and raise a fuss to be let out of their coop to free range, and their food wouldn't be touched. Then a kind soul here at BYC suggested I soften the pellets with water, which I did, and they gobble it down. Guess I'm just a softy.
