Pellets or crumbles?

I start weaning them off the crumbles when they're about 17 to 18 wks. Buy that time I've had enough of the powder waste. I also have large birds and they handle the pellets well. There's still powder but not like with crumbles. Also I agree with the previous post that they pick and choose the best morsels and leave you with the dust.

I feed pellets, except to quail. Our local brand here is rather disappointing in their "crumbles" == its so fine its basically a powder. Purina, which is harder to find here, has a lot larger, more consistent crumble size.

Pellets are a lot less waste overall. I've never had any problems with anything accepting them.

Thanks for all the responses!! Our local feed store here has ok pellets. We use Nutrena for chick feed crumbles and Pellets for older ones. I'm not sure I like the pellets for the older ones. But hey, they don't mind I don't think.... It's all touch and go!
