Those are close enough together I'd get either the cheeper one or the one thye prefer more. I use 3 grain unless the 5 grain or 7 grain is on sale.

okay and i figured if one chicken eats about 1/4lbs a day that equals about 1/2 a cup so with 5 birds it would be 2 1/2 cups a day now just have to figure out how much layer or flock raiser in there. which do you recomend?

I give the whole ration or as little 3/4 of the ration in Chicken food (layer pellets in my case), and 1/4 in 'other' that is often scratch or extra greens (or both).

I give more thne1/4 lb per bird in extreme weather conditions, cold or hot.

so do one cup each? so i would be at 5 cups than with 5 tablespoons of layer or flock raiser? also do you have a price on the purina flock raiser? the tractor supple website is down and cant get a price

Sorry, I'm confused. ... I think...

I'd take the total amount I need of food, have 3/4 of it be 'chicken food' and 1/4 of it be scratch- any table scraps or greens given extra are not counted- for the healthiest chickens possible, I cannot free range or pasture my birds.

You said you can free range so you can play with that till your birds and their eggs look right.

Store bought eggs have very clear-yellow albumen and very pale yellow yolks, the more red-orange the yolk the better tasting (and more nutritious) the egg.

Depends on what you want for your birds.

My feed store changes prices each day it seems so I can't get a price up either, sorry.

okay thanks. my eggs are very "orangy" they also taste delious and look better than the store eggs (my sister dosnt like our eggs says they are poisend cuz the yolk is orange not yellow) so i will do together 1/2 corn and 1/2 other

Sounds good!

No, tell her yours are not poisoned, that's all the bleach making store eggs yellow instead of orange...
