Pellets vs. Crumbles

Clearly, there's a high number of pellet-feeders here. I've been feeding mine crumbles since they were chicks, which was this spring

Mainly because I didn't know what I was doing, they got medicated crumbles, so I figured I'd just stick with that. I actually noticed the last time I went to the feed store that they've got pellet for chickens. I figured it was just for rabbits

When my dog gets loose, he'll clean every last crumble he can lick up

I'd doubt he'd eat the pellets.

How would I go about switching to pellets? When my black star was mauled, I bought medicated chick start in bulk that had a lot of rabbit pellets in it, & she had no issues with those..... Would it be best to mix the pellets in with their crumbles, to let them realize that, "yeah, that's food too" or just feed them the pellets once the crumbles are gone? Are they the same nutrionally?

Plus ............... think about this........... when you pour out your crumbles into a storage can take a mental note as to how much of the crumbles are just powder, and inside an empty feeder it always has a bunch of crumble dust in there.

Pellets when I can get them, less waste, a lot less.

If you're using crumbles, it often seems to work better to mix the pellets gradually in, til they accept them and figure it all out. They may resist at first, though I never had this happen to me. They will eat when they are hungry, if they have figured out it's food.
