Mally, the bird in my post is 15 months old now and she hasn't had any problems with her crop so far. She is a big girl and has filled out even more as a hen and her crop isn't quite as prominent, but still large and saggy. Her offspring, a cockerel that is half silkie and half Marans Mix (Mally's mix of breeds) also has a large saggy crop, just like her's but he hasn't had problems in the almost 4 months he's been hatched. I wouldn't worry. My Sapphire Gem, who is also my very best layer at only 7 months old, has a huge crop. She is seriously lopsided after she stuffs herself. I'm thinking she needs the nutrition for those glorious big brown eggs she's laying almost every day. Unless yours has some other identifiable problem I think she's fine. Just processing all that food she tucked in there!
