Pennsylvania farmer blocked from selling unpasteurized milk outside of that state, but it is okay to

OK with the exception of your cat. Put it this way in the wild nothing drinks it as an adult like sucking on a cow by another adult cow for instance. My point is milk is a fad in the U.S. created by the milk industry there are other things to drink that are much better for you. Like water.

Tell that to my cat on mac n' cheese day.

That's better. She is the sad result of the Mac and Cheese industry, or "Big Mac", having too much control in the home. ;)

In all seriousness though, I wasn't arguing, just joking. Dairy is not necessary to our diets, not consumed by many cultures, and not well tolerated by many. On the other side, it is freakishly delicious when not processed to heck and back, and healthy, grass-fed cows have much higher levels of 'good' things like CLA. About died when I tried ricotta cheese as it is supposed to be made, and how it is made still in some parts of Europe. That stuff on the supermarket shelf...is something else entirely.

Originally, the laws against raw milk were because local farm cows often had tuberculosis, or brucellosis. In today's world this is really rare. However in our over protected, gov't controlled, law-suit crazy society, it is still to "protect" society, YEAH, RIGHT, UH_HUH, SURE it still is. LOL.

actually dairy is very bad for cats. :)

It's not just safety from diseases that aren't common anymore like TB. It's also a hyigene issue. Does the farmer clean his equipment? Does he clean his cows' udders before he milks? Does he cut other corners? Does he store his milk properly before he sells to you?
I do agree that, as a consumer, you should be able to buy it if you wish.

BLEECH! I hate raw milk though. Did it for years growing up, could never stomach the taste.

Quote: Yeah it is! But, for the effort she takes to scale tall humans to reach the honey pot, she gets two elbow noodles a month. When she is too unhealthy to climb us like trees, that is when I'll know to cut her off. Or when I'll rejoice. XD

Then there is Johne's disease (paratuberculosis)... studies have shown that it isn't destroyed by pasteurization. There is a possible link between it and Crohn's Disease.

What can i say. I grew up on cow milk fresh from the udder, didnt get sick once. Out of all the cats we had only one EVER was lactose intolerant. Oh and the neighbors came by 2-3 times a week with a metal milk pail to get milk fresh from the bucket. But out of space reasons i will choose dairy goats as my milk source .

It was used to make cheese and butter but was rarely drank by adults. Alcohol was more widely consumed actually because of the preservation qualities of it.

I was actually raised on cow milk and goat milk and worked in a dairy in high school where I milked about 80 head morning and night in a 12 cow parlor so raw milk was all we ever had for 3 boys and we never got sick except maybe sick of goat milk which I hated.

Animal milk has been used as a food by mankind since ancient times.
