I have alot of mixes that I would like to identify, but can't, some are not mixes and I still don't know......had 2 maran eggs hatch out of that batch, but since I did not band anyone, i have lost track of who is who...

DH and I went to TSC yesterday morning for (more) feed for the meaties... we are going to be checking into the local mill for pricing on larger quanities this week. No sense buying 50 lb bags if we can get more for less.

But cute thing about the trip... we took the dogs, as we normally do. Poor Mindy was all excited, and then all disappointed when she ran to the poultry section of the store and the babies were all gone!! She looked around, sniffed and looked at me as if to say... "where are the chicks???? aren't we getting more???? you got me chicks the last two times I was here!!! "
She is bummed because we moved the last batch out of the mud room brooders to the coop on Saturday so no more babies for her to watch in the house.
Gotta love the critters , good thing she isn't in charge of chicken math around here!

awwww must have chicks!

Well, we had another hen decide to park herself in a box this weekend... and she seems to be sitting tight, so Mindy will get her wish in another few weeks if we can find the right eggs.

I'm just not sure Pidgy is going to be nearly as easy going about Mindy wanting to help with the babies as Gracie was!

...GOOD MORNING ALL!!

Quote: Usually 3-4 days, but I just hatch everything during that time instead of eating them. If you only do a couple pens each week it spreads it around so you still have eggs available.

For the quail folk, somebody outside reading is posting on CL

Too expensive. I can get quail for $2 each ready to lay.

Morning SS I cant see how you keep up with all the threads! I have turned into a skimmer!

OK. So chicken talk, women with hormones (no big surprise there) Since when doesn't anyone here want to form a get together. Got text messages on the butchering. And people always do stuff. I'm sure there was someone new. So HI!

And I'm sure someone hatched something....Congrats!! Does anyone have an emu yet? lol

I am working on the emu. I know a guy who's cousin was head of an Ag. Department at a school where they used to raise emu. He is going to check to see if they still raise them and what it would take to get a baby.
