Sorry... Didn't mean to make any one feel old. I just can't get over how time flies, and my oldest will be in first grade next year.

10 more years and she will be driving... well, unless I have her locked in her room by then....
LOL and I sit praying my oldest sons can hold on until 30 to have kids!! LOL

Here are 3 lil Welsummer chicks I picked up yesterday from Gary in Delta. I'm hoping for some speckled eggs!

they were shy yesterday but have really perked up today! Up to 19 birds not including the 2 mallards. How long until I'm at 30?!?!?

According to my chicken math calculator, let's see you have 19 and you don't want to get to 30, so you have 63 more to go! I am a graduate of the Sally Sunshine School of Enabling.

I am the one who tends to and "mothers" all our animals here. So I picked mother hen and 7-11-85 is my birthday. :)

July 11th is my anniversary! In my heart I was born in 1985 or even 1977!

Betta and Sally, I found this yeast over at Costco, $4.56 for a 2lb pack. Is this the same? http://www2.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=10178379&whse=BD_115&topnav=bd

How many birds do you need to make FF worthwhile? Technically I only have 8 birds (that's my story and I am sticking to it), but those 8 birds think they are more like 12 birds.

Baym is the Americanized spelling of a Gaelic word "baim or baum" given to me in my youth as a nickname. Basically, it was mockery. The word means "to strike a blow" and I had a reputation for being the first to throw a punch. It didn't help that I was involved in martial arts.

thank you!! Much appreciated!!- have to pick some up, like real soon!!

Waaaiiitt... I see you're in North Bend! Sorry, I was on mobile earlier and didn't see that. Mill Hall feed store has layer mash, 16% protein for $24/100lbs. It's on 64, and is much closer to you than Centre Hall. I'd say it's probably not worth it to drive all the way down here for $0.25/100lbs savings, LOL. Calico Creek has okay pricing for crumble/pellet... I liked them for the gamebird feed when I lived in Farwell, but I also traded with them to get it... I'd take mature button quail down to trade for store credit, then I'd use store credit for the gamebird feed. I've seen everything from guinea pigs, rats, mice, hamsters and rabbits to cage birds (including button quail) and pullets being sold there, so they'd most likely be willing to "trade" store credit for any of these, if they aren't already overloaded with them.

Just use a smaller bucket. 1 to 2 1/2 gallon would work for you.

That's the same! It's just a different brand, but it's the same! IMO, FF is worthwhile even if you only have one bird... you'd just have to scale it WAAAAYYYY down. I do mini batches of like 1 cup of feed and a sprinkle of yeast sometimes if I only have a few chicks during the summer (since they have to have feed all day instead of just once at night).
