How long do chickens mourn the death of a flock mate? My girls aren't laying eggs (only 3 yesterday and 1 today, usually get 9 a day). They are all acting and eating normally.

hey guys und gals.  eggs in my incubator are Buff orpington rooster over two rhode island and two black australorpe hens.  Any ideas what they would look like. or anyone have pics.

i don't know, but I'll bet they're colorful.

Looks like I may have scored an almost free chicken coop, one of the ladies that works at the local gas station has One to get rid of!! Just have to wait for her to talk to her hubby about it & call me. I'll keep working on the one I have started in the meantime ... Today is turning out great so far depspite the gloomy weather!!!

i vote that you charge them to remove it. ; )

Smaller than you think! I often find up to 3 in one box at a time!

I am too anal retentive to have pools...I would be cleaning the darn thing constantly...I know they would have to have something to support them w/out me being involved. I am too crazy for it!

My ducks tip their pails over all the time...so I don't have to worry about dumping them.

OMG, I never thought of that as a possibility, would they mourn a roo? Cause I did indeed lose a roo last week! And went down to 0 eggs, then 3 for a few days, then 5, now 6...

Blarney, I was just joking, so all i can say is WOW......i am really rethinking this goat thing,,,,now sure i want to spend the time to keep them in pens...

Silkie, need to talk about those purple eggs your neighbor has,,,,what breeds are they from and any other info you got,,,how many purple would be in an order,,could they be mixed with some OE eggs,,,i also need to replace some of my older egg layers,,,I like to keep about 10 of the red comets that TSC sells,,,,i did not get any this year from them and mine are aging.......let me know what's available to go with those purple eggs, i will get back to you over the weekend..

how about this Japanese Maple? She also ate a Sango Kaku Maple and the fruit trees. Oh yes, it is quite the eye opener of a battle, but I will prevail! I have to..

Oo she def is in big trouble, one downside to goats, they eat everything they aren't supposed to!

My goats eat everything too! I don't bother keeping them in. Its only two of them, and they don't go far. They don't come near the house because of the dogs. The birds don't care though. I am a bird person! Like mostly all kinds of birds, even birds of prey. Don't mess with my babies though!
