Chicken love's almost, if not as, infectious as smiles...

HAH! You really DO need more chickens!!!

No it's Gavin who needs more I swear. Just like he's the only reason I watch Scooby Doo, G.I. Joe and other cartoons from my childhood....ummm yeah that sounds about right

They are ALWAYS plotting & Ginger is the leader!!!! Had to "get-her" again, she got out of the yard run.......how she does this...I have no clue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Too late chicken math/love have already taken root. I think all the animals do "I'll just wait til she's not paying attention..." Maybe she's part goat lol
, I was a little disappointed w/ the one where she finally made it to Alaska, can't rememder the name..I love the first three though....I don't go to the movies often enough to keep up, so I wait till I can get them in the $5.00 bins.....or less..haha
Unless someone else is paying (aka future DH) I don't go, except to the drive in. Bring my own food and drink, and pay less for 2 movies than we'd pay for one at the theater, and Bug can run around and burn energy off BEFORE the movies start...

My TT girl has a red chest & black spots in her back & tail, so the TT's come in a wide range of colors.

I had a solid white, a white with tiny black speckles an white with red around her eyes and big black & red splotches.

I really hope all this works out for you. I am right with you with my sperm donor. Now that he's in jail for another 5-10yrs, it does make my life easier. Sadly, his parents still take Devon to go see him. Like that's a place to take a kid... A kid he's already said he didn't care about and didn't want. A kid he now only has time for when he gets a new girlfriend (it's like he shows off with him and then discards Devon once he has the girl's interest).

So it looks like the only way I am going to get the Speckled Sussex laying age chickens I want is to drive to Maryland (ad on craigslist) - not really doable considering hubbies work schedual and our 4 year old going to preschool. I may just have to end up ordering some chicks from H & H Heritage and Rare Poultry & they have no minimums which is nice.

Just wondering if anyone has any younger laying age hens for sale around central PA (I haven't done enough posts to go into the buy, sell, swap area yet) I was looking for something different in colouring like the speckled sussex - I don't really want the usually white or red chickens - a few neighbours have chickens and I want ours to be recognisable from the others around us.

Not looking for a rooster, our 4 year old had a run in with the neighbours rooster and had a nice chunk taken out of his thigh, so he is petrified of them.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say your choices are almost endless. I personally don't have any red or white chickens, although one is red and white (a Swedish flower).
Are you looking for certain egg color, solid color birds or multi? There are so many options, its almost better to know what is on your no list, lol.

LOL yeah I know what you mean, before coming on here I had NO idea how many different types of chickens there are!! It is INSANE lol I really liked the speckled sussex for its look, that and it gets more speckled as it molts.

Hubby and son like brown eggs but I have found the easter egg coloured eggs extremely interesting (I don't eat eggs) I just want to have chickens (hubby works away all week every week so I want to keep busy), something that looks different from the standard most people know, a good layer, doesn't mind the heat/humidity or the cold and that generally has a nice temperament and can deal with a 4 year old.

I am in search of some LF pullets, straight run or younger laying hens, should be ones who will have a decent body size, egg color doesn't matter.
Someone I know just lost his flock of layers to a raccoon attack in the coop. He would probably be fine with a mixed bag of straight run chicks
of a couple different breeds if someone has some from an incubator hatch.
Prefer it to be within an hour or so of Punxsy so I can pick them up and relay them to him.
He does have a particular interest in the Buckeyes, so some of them would be great. Though he wouldn't need a dozen of them alone.

PM me if you have anything available so I can pass the info along to him.

Check with Beaglady, she's in Duncannon, so not that far from you, and she may very well have some brown egg layers, I know she has Americaunnas (blue)

I need some help sexing a LF splash cochin. They were hatched in January and I know for sure one is a cockerel. The one on the right in the pic with both birds is the cockerel and the right single pic is the same boy. My question is: is the other one a p

ullet??

Is the bird pictured above a pullet??

I know this one is a cockerel. If they turn out to be a pair Betta has first choice. If she decided not to take them does anyone else want thems
Looks like a pair to me.

Quote: Been there, done that too. Just sit down & explain Mommy was upset & over reacted & everything will be ok.

Quote: Patches looks like my girl, but mine has more red in her neck. It gets darker each time she molts.

Sounds like a couple of my exes.

I have a crap load of birds from just hatched to already laying. Just bring him over & pick out the ones he likes. I'll give him a discount for buying in bulk...LOL

I have so many wonderful memories of the drive-in w/ family. My brother & I would lay on the roof of the car, it was a Concord, little silver thing, perfect for the two of us and a blanket!! I think that was the one & only time my mother got to sleep...hahaah .. She would back 2 lite bottles of soda & all kinds of food!..

Where have all the Drive-ins gone?! It's too bad, along w/ other "family" activities...they just seem to disappear. Roller Skating was another biggie for us!
