Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

She seems to owe out an awful lot of eggs to an awful lot of people from what I have seen on several people's swap pages.

Not sure why anyone would dig themselves so far into a hole like that. I don't like to get more than 1-2 orders of anything owed out at a time in case my birds decide to not cooperate. That way I can at least offer people options for alternates if the wait gets too long for what they originally wanted.

CPL was in the hospital with a Crohn's flare up and trying to move at the same time. Life hit her. She still technically has until June 21st to get them sent since they are spring swaps. Someone is helping her ship them, but I guess this person doesn't know how to pack properly and most of the eggs are not making it in once piece. I understand the frustrations, but you have to be sympathetic to the situation, too.

Quote: That is terrible, I don't wish that on anyone. They both are having a time of it, didn't her MIL recently pass too!

oh adding I didn't swap with her, I don't do the swaps, people owe WAY too many eggs and it takes forever to get them. I won eggs during the New Years Hatchalong from CPL on a contest. I am not worried about them, she sent Harmony a bunch of misc eggs just for fun and I thought that very nice of her to do. Harmony was ESTATIC opening that box! Better than chocolates for her! I hope she feels better soon.

I should clarify... I think CPL was in the hospital... I may have her confused with my friend in Canada. I know they both had Crohn's flare-ups and one was in the hospital.

My ex-MIL has Crohns and so does my brother-in-law. My friend in Canada just underwent her first surgery a year and a half ago. My BIL has had a couple surgeries now. He seems to have his well managed now, has for the last few years. My ex-MIL has had all the surgeries she can have. She has to have all her nutrients IVed into her every night. Her IV lines were always getting infected until they moved it to a totally new place and it's been fine for over a year now. She's still very limited on what she can do.

Not a disease I'd want to deal with, for sure.

I came home to about 10 dead chicks and 8 more struggling to live. I can only blame myself. Obviously the essential oils were toxic to them and killed them. I can't imagine how. Whoever is still alive tomorrow will be going outside while I set up the other plastic tote brooder and I will be burning my new brooder. I am afraid to try cleaning it again for fear the illness will still be present adn I am going to keep losing chicks. Whatever the chicks had before didn't die during my bleaching. The new babies have the same crap and I killed my chicks trying to save them.

I am just so upset right now. I don't know what else to do. The babies in the other tote brooder are fine. OMG. What have I done?

Rey, so sorry for your losses. I keep hoping to see good news. There is a lot of stuff out there to "try". It is a huge learning curve.

I understand illness & uncooperative birds. I just don't understand why someone would get themselves so far behind on swaps knowing that ANYTHING can happen at any time & then all of the people they owe would be out eggs or whatever the swap item was. I'm sure she really can't afford to send paypal to everyone she owes eggs to in place of them either. I would be afraid of exactly the situation she has gotten herself into: Something came up that's now making it extremely difficult to get all of those swaps fulfilled. Not saying anything against her. Just saying I would never have done it personally as I would hate to leave so many people hanging if something happened, as it has with her.

Done, anyone else who wants to be added, just get me your zipcode.
Glad to hear!
Layer mash from Sunday's Mill. After next weekend when I'm in NJ for Relay for Life (note..my sis is team captain...and since she FINALLY had the baby via c-section on Friday night, she obviously won't be up for staying....so take a wild guess who is now in charge??, Oh and BTW...my chickens aren't laying!!!) I will start making Fermented Feed with it again. They also get all our leftovers, and on occasion when I'm in the store and a bag or box of salad is marked down to $0.99 they get that as well. All the egg shells they want, all the worms, bugs, grubs they can find outside along with any tasty plants they decide on (note, mine don't eat dandelions!)
She just wanted to give you a kiss!
Will have to try!
I think if it doesn't pour tomorrow the ducklings are going outside...I'm so sick of quacking!

I hope all the mums had a great mothers day, mine was spent doing much needed yard work with hubby and the kiddo and getting my coop into the spot we want it!

I took Patches wrap off tonight so she could relax in the water.... Before I even got it off I heard a pop sound... Her leg is not healing. I know shes in a lot of pain.... I am going to call another vet to see what they say... and a price and if they do payments... If things don't work out I may have to put her down. I am absolutly balling my eyes out. I feel so horrible!
