Try letting them out later after they have laid. Only other idea would be to put golf balls in the nest box & see if they want to add to the nest.My sons room is painted! I hate textured plaster. Every time I thought I was done the light would shine through the window and I would notice a spot I missed! Tomorrow is touch ups and a thorough cleaning.
Chicken question. My silkies have started to lay their eggs around the yard instead of in the coop. Today and yesterday the one laid her egg in a bucket dh has laying in the yard. I can't find the other hens laying spot. Any way o break this behavior beside not letting them free range?
This is something I'm afraid will happen with my girls, since they free range all day. So I would like to know as well, please..none of ours have started but they're getting close. My sons room is painted! I hate textured plaster. as most know i have a pen of young freedom rangers,,,the first couple weeks they stay penned up inside coop, then get left out into the fenced run area,,,,,they have been out for maybe 2 weeks now, and i have lost 3 to a predator,,,but i could not tell what since my birds tend to make a meal out of things like that......SSSOOOO,,,,I moved the camera yesterday and ended up capturing a fresh kill with it,,,,,(i was surprised as to what it was)...
I will be spending my sunday morning breakfast sitting on a bucket watching.(all kills have been early morning so far)..
pictures to come later tonight,,,be forwarned...predators can be cute...
OOOOO! Cant wait to see!!!! Good luck!!!Those are just awesome!!! I love the diaper cake idea!
Trying to make my centerpieces for the wedding right now, I'll try to post a pic once I get one done. Hopefully they turn out the way I'm envisioning them...
Thanks, but I can't lie. I got the ideas online and thought "Hey! I can make those!!!"WOW, look at you!! Clever lady!!!
Have a great time! Give Hugs to Enriques daddy for me!!!Tomorrow I am going to see Blarneyeggs set up! I am psyched. I am hoping to get some pullets soon.
If I have to wait until spring..........I think it will be a long time.
I also have to actually build the coop..........but the planning and materials acquisitioning is advancing nicely!
I got some pine boards...........One concern is that pine is such a soft wood...........I am worried that if I attach
hardware cloth to pine boards a hungry predator might just break thru anyway...........what do you all think?
I may have a heavier sturdier board or log at the bottom---------------
Hmm..........
