I love my one black orpington. Beautiful bird. Of course I like my lemon rooster, too. Good English line, very stately looking.
So what am I working on breeding? Those Swedish flowers. Young rooster is starting to crow, so pathetic. I'm guessing a few of three pullets should be laying soon.

Most breeders out there are still trying to get that sky blue egg. The thing I want to also say, is at a poultry show, they don't judge egg colors. So things like type, and color out weigh the egg color. If you are looking for a colorful egg basket, with no worries about showing, you would be hard pressed to find really, really, blue eggs.

I am not saying these things to be argumentative, just so you can not be disappointed. All my Ameraucana hens lay a greenish blue, or blueish green. I have never seen a sky blue egg in person. I usually see turquoise. That is my take on it, people's perception is different for everyone. I will say the eggs you got from ebay seem to be really light.

Yeah I am aware of the genetics with the egg color. If I breed them back to a Pea combed blue egg layer it should eventually turn the eggs back to blue and the get the effects of the original mix out. But being they are Lavander Araucana',s they could never win best in show as it's not a acknowledged breed. While I need to breed the egg color back in there is also the death gene so I have to be careful only to breed a tufted to a clean face. And then there the length of tufts, rumpless, leg color, carrage...... I think my work will be endless,

i need to rehome some chickens. would like to see them go to good homes not auction. i am in Derry PA. 2 laying hens of brown eggs. 5 black chicks about 2 month old maybe pure Ameraucanas or a mix of. 7 more black chicks of the same under a week old. contact me for prices. will meet locally.
 
So this weekend, I was out in the coop/run I moved a bunch of white stone back to the run, get my girls out of the mud, and create better drainage to try to remove poo and odor! Turned out pretty well I think, and the girls where going crazy over the bugs in the stone, not to mention the worms!! Talk about piggies!! Funny watching chickens run around with a worm hanging out of the mouth being peck in the head by another who wants that worm!

Ran out of stone, Will have to stalk Cl for the rest


My ladies having there morning Scratch.. I think they like the rocks! The smell has gone down greatly, let's see how long that lasts.

On the left their new waterer that when I tested didn't leak, but of course we hang it and it does.. grrrr Will be fixed on the 4 day weekend! Really tried of there yucky waterers.. can't wait for this to be up and running!



I also put up my main coop door (needed hinges) put a door handle on, and a pad lock! I got 8 eggs yesterday!!!! WoooHoooo!! (FYI: I was getting anywhere from 0-4 eggs M-F, Take my eggs now little ********!!! ha!!!

maybe his or her parents knew what they were stealing the eggs, how could they not if the kid brought the eggs into the house? even then, the parent should have known when it was too quite , that the kid was into something he shouldn't have been

If they watched there kids that would make sense, but one time they where watching my son, she didn't realize Ryan was not in her house, but over at her brothers, because she called me to tell me, um Ryan just got in his car with them (they have like 4 kids) and went to their grandmothers house!! WTH!! No adults noticed he was with them until they where basically at the grandparents house.

Also I doubt they where taking the eggs home.. (that is not how they roll)

Also.. she is no longer watching my son, and he does not play with those boys any further after the whole exposure incident..
