I'm headed to the auction tomorrow morning in search of a couple doelings...LOL

Quote: Fertility checks take about a week to make sure eggs that have been set are developing. Anything longer than that means there was a problem.

Myself and another BYC member have been trying to get eggs and or chicks from them for ever...was starting to get a complex

....okay..do you have an idea as to when birds/eggs will be available?? Did they give you a date?, we were told they were checking fertility...

...I don't know how long that takes....has been a long time now....

Haven't heard back. Perhaps Phase 4 isn't going well...I'll let you know if I get a response.

So there are two local mills by me (both are in NY). Each are hovering at $12/50lb of pellet (16% protein).

I asked about the whole product (as opposed to already in pellet form). The only thing I can get is corn or oats.

Is that normal? (sorry if that's a silly question)

I'm going to head over to the barn now to find out what's in my layer pellet from the pet store which is just under $12/50lb bag.

I got lavender orpington eggs from them but it was back in April. They said they hatch only based on placed orders.

I'm a part disgusted and part excited. I have my first broody hen out back but didnt know how many eggs she was sitting on when I discovered her broodiness. I thought it was just coincidence she was laying each time I went to feed...until I finally caught on! Anyway, I must've taken an egg that I didn't realize was hers bc this morning I was cracking eggs for my breakfast and discovered a partially developed chickie in my mixing cup :( so I'm half disgusted but half excited bc that means the others she's sitting on are probably doin thier thing!!!!

Yikes Chad! Yep, we been down that road. Mark those eggs.

Rosies, Great Job, getting the egg thieving and drainage under control! and, yes, tell Ryan he may buy a goat :D

Afternoon all!!

Been rushed off my feet all day so taking 5 mins to myself. Son and I slept in this morning so it was a mad rush to preschool (late) this morning and i've been going non stop since. Got about half the moving around of the house done - now it is the uber boring task of cleaning, sorting stuff I can get rid off, vacuuming and i'll no doubt shampoo the carpets for good measure

The chicks are doing good - will be 3 weeks old on thursday. 2-3 of them are friendlier than others and one is super friendly (squizzy), it has been fun to watch them grow from tiny little chicks!! Can't wait to see how their little personalities turn out as they get even bigger

Better get back to work - gotta pick up the kiddo in 2 hours - hope everyone has a good afternoon!!
