Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Hello all we've been super busy lately and I just got caught up here. My poulets are making hen noises and squatting Yay! so I should have lots of eggs soon. My two best layers went broody they are fighting over who gets which eggs because they both prefer the same nest box

My banty hen is off her nest today with 5 peeps she hatched (pics to come). Got the guinea keets all moved to the grow out run/tractor. Turkeys moved into the newly built tractor. Now I have an empty brooder which means lord knows what I will bring home next.... Happy 4th of July!!!
That's awesome! Happy 4th to you too and everyone else.

Well, it's been a mediocre 4th of July so far. Woke up, 3 of my Khakis went missing, no sign of them. still have on girl left. She won't stop yelling out for them

I also culled down to 1 German NHR roo and 1 Buckeye roo, too many roos around. Hopefully I won't regret that decision later...

I haven't been able to get the stone I want yet, but I put pine shavings into my grow out run. It's the only run I have, but it was so darn muddy and stunk to high heaven. The pine helped, but I really want to get the stone. I'm just not sure if I should get pea stone or something larger since it's a grow out pen. I also need to figure out a way to put a very low roost into the dog coop. Since most of them are so small I'm thinking just a 2x2 mounted to the sides. Which reminds me I need to build a lower roost in the main coop too, and get started on the nesting boxes soon... ETA: I have changed the pine out twice this week to prevent mold and mildew in the pen.
The only large/grown bird in there is Roo, she seems to prefer sticking with youngsters and has acted a bit like a mother hen with them even though they definitely are not her's. It's so cute during the thunderstorms the chicks all huddle right up against, under and on her in the converted dog coop, and all you can see is her head which is so watchful. She even pecked me when I was doing the nightly check the other night. That's the first time she's ever pecked me.
Oooo, is that a golden pheasant?
Its a Cinnamon :p

This is my yellow golden.

a small victory...#1, from a GLW....she snuck out of the new coop went back to the old coop to lay it....btw, I had put golf balls in the nesting boxes on both coops....seems like the birds push them out of the boxes....

I don't have high hopes, I called for them and looked everywhere. I can only hope now. I wouldn't have sold them, they were developing DQs left and right, definitely not good breeding stock. I'll breed/buy more next year and hope for the best

I have my leghorns in with my silkies. Was wondering what a mix would look like! I had a chick pip at the wrong end of the egg. It sure how long ago since it was on the under side of the egg. It's still moving so fingers crossed. We also did two eggtopsies today. One was a fully developed silkie that never pipped. It was live on day 18 so not sure what happened. The other one was developed but not fully. Couldn't tell the breed. One more is moving but didn't pip yet. The chick that hatched yesterday is all alone. If the two left don't hatch what should I do to keep the chick from being lonely.
