I need to check with my township, my neighbor has a shed that they don't want. I was hoping to get it and convert it into a new coop. But i need to find out if our other buildings that are on the property are grandfathered in, MIL never got permits to put them on the property.
If i am able to get this shed it is going to take some work to turn it in to a coop. The roof is coming apart but they had replacement shingles for the roof and they will give them to me with the shed. Right now my birds are using an oversized dog house that i made that is an A frame. It works but they don't have any actual nest boxes in there due to the shape of the building. Really need to get my but in gear and find out about the other buildings....

Permits all depend on which township you live in. Dover Township is terrible ~ requiring permits for everything. We are in Conewago Township and they are much more lenient. We built 2 sheds, 2 coops and a greenhouse all without permits ~ we did call and ask first. The size was a big factor in whether a permit was required. The pole building did require a permit, but no inspection. The deck also required a permit & inspection as it is attached to the house.

I will check to see if they have a website that lists the regulations. Maybe i can find out about the other buildings that are on the property through that. That way if thy are not grandfathered in it won't arouse suspicion.

I am in Windsor township. The regulations have gotten worse here recently. I have heard about Dover twp ours is getting close to that. :(

So I started out with my chicks in the garage mostly because hubby would have a fit if i brought them in the house. I have had such a hard time regulating the temp due to not having the garage insulted. Apparently my hubby has a soft spot for cute fuzzy butts cuz they are moving in the house!!! Gotta love him!

Congrats! In this weather they shouldn't have to be in very long at least.... they'll be outside enjoying the grass before you know it!

My patient is eating some food this morning! YAY!!!! I am hoping this is a good sign..... Vet said to only give her canned food so that is what she has. Still looking for name options for the kitty....

Oh thank you :) So far so good. She is resting alot, which is to be expected. She is a fighter though, she hobbled out on to my bed this morning so she could cuddle with me for a little, laid next to me purring away. I am going to give her some pain meds here in a minute although she has yet to show me much as far as being in pain so i am going on how i would feel and treating accordingly. I hope that is the right thing to do? She ate a little food this morning, i have not seen her drink since last night but i have not been watching her all the time. Should i be watching her more and noting when she eats/drinks?

So sorry about your kitty. My cat was hurt when she was 1 year old. Her hip bone was snapped off (the round part that goes into the hip joint), her pelvis was broken, and her pelvis was twisted to the left side. This was 2 years ago, still don't know what happened to her. Someone must have kocked her or ran her over with a car, there was no road rash or rubber on her. We restricted her movement. I ke[t her in my rottweiler crate. She is doing great now. The vet told me to give her fur ball stuff to make sure she wouldn't get constipated and have to strain to poop. I gave her cosiquin pills as well. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003ZWLFWW/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?qid=1374102909&sr=8-3&pi=SL75 I'm sure your kitty will make a full recovery as well. Good luck with her.

Thanks, our vet told us to only feed her canned food because it has the moisture in it and makes them strain less to poo. So far today she has eaten almost a whole can, she has peed and pooed in the litter box so things are still moving inside her little body. We keep saying she has such a sweet personality.. So i think she has acquired the name Sweetie pie.

Proud chicken mum moment - went out to go put the girls in the coop, only to be surprised to find them all in their coop waiting by the door as if to say goodnight
