Had to have the kitten put to sleep yesterday. She was suffering. Vet said she could hardly hear her heart beat on the one side and suspected that she had fluid/blood building up in or around her lungs. Nothing we could do at that point but end her misery.

At least she is at peace now. Sorry I didn't respond yesterday, I was a bit upset....

Here is the short version of the bathroom.

Yes, that is padding under the edge of the air vent. It is staying there! Well, until I get up again anyway.

I am very sorry about this.............I feel for you..................It is very sad to see an animal suffer and then to have to make that decision. Kittens are so adorable.........yet I have felt this way with all my animals................Hang in there.............these terribly sad emotions is what makes us caring humans..............

I lost one of my cats last week suddenly too. She jammed a 4" stick down her throat while she was hunting. There was nothing the emergency vet could do to save her. She will be waiting at the Rainbow Bridge for your little one.

Just lost the Cochin. Breaks my heart, she really was a pretty little thing. I dropped the OE at New Bolton Center for necropsy so at least I'll know if it was something contagious. Spoke to the doc today, She says they've seen a few cases of kidney failure from lack of water among chooks lower in the pecking order. I do have more than one water source in the Cochin coop, I can't imagine her not being able to get water.
