hi barb, was wondering how things were going, thats a shame about the eggs, sometimes you lose when you buy, they must not have a bunch of birds to lay that many eggs so they're still fertile, we went down last monday, believe it or not, left before they even got finished with the produce, just too much junk and produce and it was starting to get hot. will look for you the next swap, i just might take some buff laced brahma young i hatched this year, just too many.

Okay, going to be a totally weird question but:

Does anyone know someone who practices falconry?
can't help you, but, if you have questions about raptures, you might visit Hawk Mountain...on the weekends they have educational sessions and usually bring out a bird for folks to see. Also, there are usually a couple of 'park rangers' out on the point counting...my two cents...

Hi all...now that the weather is going to start getting cooler I wanted to see what others were doing to keep their chickens warm. Are your coops insulated? Mine is not. I was wondering how necessary it would be or is there another way for them to stay warm? I'm definitely willing to insulate but I wanted to find out what others in PA were doing, first. Thanks!
Hi folks:

Howdy from Chester Co....if you are interested in who's near you, contact MissyDCPC and she'll add you to this http://www.communitywalk.com/pa_bycers/map/1552784

about coops and winter...my first coop was a cheapie...and I needed get a better one.....I intend to get a bail of hay and put a few inches of extra insulation on the flooring....I also will weather strip all doors/vents.....all my chickens are cold tolerant...I think somebody on here mentioned tacking old feed bags on the interior walls of the coop.....hope this helps

You're right, that is a weird one for a chicken site

I don't, I wish I did though. That would be awesome to see in person.

Hahaha I figured, but you guys are so diverse and wide-spread, I hoped someone would.

I am actually going there in two weeks because that is when the migration peaks! I don't have questions, I just wanted to see if I could tag along with a falconer in the field and observe them, because falconry is something I am seriously considering doing sometime in my life, just not right now (it takes two years to get your license, oh boy).
