Oh my------------so much to read on here each night!


todays veggie bounty from just a few containers on the deck

I am amazed at all you folks with the variety of animals you have!

I would love more animals .................but I would love it best if they came with caretakers and spacious housing arrangements too!

As I work full time and don't have a big enough yard...........I am limited..............unless I didn't care about the animals.........then they could be cramped and neglected..................but I am not into that!

If I had a dog...........he wouldn't go out much and that cant be good!
If I had indoor birds their lives might be in jeopardy from my 2 indoor cats.....

fish tank would be soooo cool...........I would have to be sure the lid was very cat proof...............I am sure my two would love to go fishing.

I would enjoy cuddly pets like bunnies, dogs,

I am interested in different types of chickens that lay different color eggs.............gotta get thru this winter first and then in the spring maybe some chocolate laying hens or olive eggers.......

I get to watch a ton of birds at my feeder.............does this count?

I highly question some folks posts discussing petting zoo and then listing snakes and mice etc............no thanks on petting them............
geesh!

I care about animals but honestly...........no offense meant...............but I find the turkeys to look quite odd ............almost like vultures.......they may be nice birds yet I find their appearance scary!

so that's what I got today!

Nice bowl of goodies, I just opened my garden up for my chooks to have at...they are feasting on green cherry tomatos and other goodies...couldn't get them to eat kale...now they are tearing it up....go figure...I'll still have peppers, tomatoes and green beans...to many weeks to come, but I am hoping they'll take care of the weeds etc....
 
I want a petting zoo, but DH said no to my mini cow. We have (well step daughter has, and it lives here...even when she doesn't choose to) 1 cat. The kids keep trying to con me into other pets and the answer is always the same. You don't take care of the cat or your stuff, you don't get a pet.

My bird numbers are decreasing as well. I will be butchering a bunch of my roos and the super noisy pekins, and probably several of the scovies here soon. That will drop me below 20 birds to overwinter...and I can start fresh in the spring with a new outlook on life.

Ok, off to Mother Earth News Fair to stalk Galgo! Have a good weekend all!

This is my plan for the future-
Chickens (obviously)
A horse or two
A mini family cow
Three dogs
Maybe some barn cats, but no family pet cats
A few turkeys

My plan is to have one or two kids and as soon as they reach a functional age, put them to work. When I was really young (up to age 5) I grew up on a mini farm (chickens, a turkey, rabbits, ducks, etc) and I loved it. I feel like it builds character (I moved before I could be put to work, so I'm not speaking from experience). So... I am going to have servants and well-behaved kids. Win-win?
