These are permanent pens, but I am not sure how long these groups will be together in those particular pens. More than likely until I figure out how everyone will be arranged and consolidated for at least winter. Some will remain in the shed. Yes, I have a plan for more light. I just need to get motivated enough to do it. I have 3 replacement windows that will be going in the south facing wall. Two will be in the back, across from the pens I just built and one in the front so the breeding cages in the front get more light. I can't keep the large garage door open all winter, lol! The wind blows from the north/north-west and blows right into the shed through that door.

ETA: Adding windows means using the chainsaw... Mwhahahaaaa! Sometimes I like the fact I am more manly than my husband. Other times I don't. Running the chainsaw and using the power tools is one of those times. Well... As long as I am not bringing down a tree with the chainsaw. I haven't done that and it kind of scares me. Putting holes in a shed wall are easy.

Here's a pic, just for fun. My beloved Popcorn (in a full blown molt) with her BFF (Silkie) and their crew of youngins. And yes, I duct taped my hose.
Adorable!! I love seeing momas and their babies! What is Popcorn? And how old are the chickies? Cannot wait till spring.
The chicks are 6 weeks, Popcorn is 1/2 Silkie and my bestest girl. she is an awesome broody and teaches her brood to come to me, it's very sweet, they all run when I open the door. Chicks in the bra?! Oh my.

Well, we got the news yesterday... My grandfather has prostate cancer and it's a fast moving mass. They have to do radiation treatments to shrink it and then go from there. So - two family members with cancer. One (pap) terminal and one (grandpap) not, as far as we know. We'll see how grandpap's prostate reacts to treatment. In other news, yesterday was productive. I finally got my pens done in the shed! Sadly, I need more. At least 2 more. One 5x4', one 6x5' and one 3.5x5' pen! Now, I need to put a 4x6 and a 4x4 on the other side. And I got birds in them! First official black Cochin x chocolate Orp pen! These are my Buff Columbian looking bantam Cochins (they are part of my Mille Fleur project)! My US SOP bantam Orps - I swore I kept 7, not 5. Oh well. I have a 100% English bantam black Orp for these girls. Sadly, his leg is injured and he's not getting better. The swelling is gone in his hock, but he still won't put weight on it. Hopefully he shows more improvement soon. I'd hate to put a chocolate roo over them... That wasn't my plan. After all the construction, we took the kids to Millville's Halloween Parade and went trick-or-treating. The parade was crappy. The trick-or-treating was good. I love the fact that Millville is small enough not to overload the kids with junk but gives them enough to last a bit, too... Even after Dewey and I raid the good stuff first.
Sorry about your grandfather. :( Love your pens. Maybe one day I will build a barn with pens. As for chickens in bras, I did that on the 4th of July with my chicks that were hatching. We were dealing with mites and didn't want the newly hatched babies to get mites. My incubator doesn't work and I couldn't think of a warmer spot for them lol

***Wing- Every thing is relative, it all matters. Your situation is no-less important or irrelevant as anyone else's . You have to deal with it, therefore it is relevant. You are an incredible person who has alot to deal/live with too.
