Happy New year! Bringin in the new year as usual (for the past 27 years) with my KIDDOS! Well some of them anyways, I am sure the bigguns are out having a blast!
I just officially joined the forum & am in Lititz. Anyone else in/near Lititz? (Just north of Lancaster.)
Wondering if anyone is interested in helping me find good homes for my 2 extra Lavendar Amerucana roosters. They are starting to fight for dominance so I would like to rehome 1-2 asap. I have now connected with someone can take one in a few months; anyone up for sooner?
Here is my original post from the free rehoming forum. Someone suggested I repost on this thread:
"We have 2 Lavendar Americaucana roosters who are 6 months old. They were hatched from eggs we ordered Garry Farm (found through this website). We ended up with 3 roosters and we would like to find a loving home for 2 of them if possible (we have friends that will take them to eat them, but we thought we'd try to find a home first).
Really pretty and healthy. No sign of any problems.
We live just north of Lancaster PA. We thought we'd try here before Craigslist since we're less likely to have someone take them and abuse them.
Please let us know."
Also, I took this picture last night of 1 of them. They all look roughly the same:
Half of my flock is headed to auction tomorrow. I'm keeping 50 adults & about 5 chicks. I have 30 adults & about 15 chicks & juveniles headed out. With moving twice in less than a month I just can't afford to feed them all right now. Plus watering all those ducks in winter is a royal pain!
Happy new year chicken folk! Been sitting here with some coffee trying to figure out the 'next steps'...know I want a pair of CCL girls, will hatch out some chicks if a broody becomes available (might get some olive eggers) and I may take a stab at making a coolerbater(just for fun)...and I am waiting for the ground to thaw to start hawk proofing the back yard...
I do have some interest in a couple of other breeds but I pretty much top out at 12...they'd be Red Dorkings and Maradunna Basques...
