I would honestly be happy with either a roo or a hen. Both are so pretty. A hen would lay lovely blue eggs for me. A rooster I could breed with my EE hens and everybody else and make amazing looking babies and get interesting colored eggs. A pair and I'd be in Heaven because then I could have true breeding chicks from the hen and everything else under the sun with that gorgeous roo over the whole flock.oh Sally? are you holding out on me??? yeppers...mine were out today and I was amazed that nobody keeled over...was watching them closely....tough birds when healthy!
I got three eggs out of the four that are laying for us. Unfortunately I was feeling lousy and didn't get out to collect them. I finally yelled down for my daughter to go get the eggs. Two were frozen and split wide open. The Silver Sebright was in the nest box yet. So I went out about half an hour later and got her egg at least. So sad we lost the Leghorn's and Oprington's though. Heard them out there singing the egg song probably two hours earlier. I was just too dizzy and stupid feeling to trust myself to go out there at the time. Stupid inner ear infection on my left side. I get so dizzy when I move to quick sometimes I actually make myself motion sick to the point where I'll throw up. Happened three times today. I can NOT wait till this straightens out and I have a new understanding for my residents who live daily with vertigo. D:Mine were all fine this morning too, I didnt let them out , gave them warm mothers oats collected all the FROZEN broken eggs .....tough girls..![]()

awwwww that stinksWe ended up loosing a fewof our 2-4mo olds-just too cold, even with all our preparations.Poor things need some fat on them.![]()

you sure he doesnt have mites on top of the other stuff?OK at the risk of being a total thread hog....here's my today
1) a couple of the girls got out so I let the other seven out with them..(misery loves company)....well they hunkered down quite a bit but, they also got out to scratch and peck and by afternoon were rather slow(as in no hurry) to get to the coop....3 degrees and high winds didn't seem to bother them, noticed a bunch of wild birds out too and had three deer come thru at dusk....all are locked in tonight and they will stay there til it hits 20....
2) sick roo is hanging in there...he has been getting force fed by me sugar water and meds....I also got him to eat some scrambled eggs (some forced and some voluntary) he also crowed twice today in the basement....(I think a good sign)...I do not know if its the tetracycline or the warm basement that is the tonic, but he seem a tad better,...will be dusting him with permethine (sp) tomorrow morning.... and will facilitate a worming when I can coordinate things meds wise...he's still shaking his head alot....
Keep warm!!!
