Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I didn't get much viewing time in at the show yesterday, I sure hope I can get back there tomorrow.. we'll see. Here are some pics, I know you wanted to see some LMP:

I realize this next one is focused on the bars (duh) but it shows his 'type' better than the other shots. Gotta love the Bantam Cochins

Thank You sooo much!!!!

What breed was the Turkey champion?

I know a bunch of you raise 'meat' birds...In your opinions, what are the best to raise..*temperament/ *size/* time it takes to fill out, we would like to keep it to no more than 10 wks..., and anything else I am missing...I have been reading up some...seems like a lot like the "cornish x" better than "freedom ranger"...any thoughts on this? Oh yeah...the DH wants the kind that don't crow too...

..good grief...just ignore that one

We have pretty much decide on the turkey breeds we want, now looking to the meaties....Thank you-Danielle

Thanks Katt, I am South of Lancaster, in Chester County. She's in this pic, lower right. Black Orp behind her.

Man.. you are a hard seller.....she looks like Chicka..a little more copper on her neck...Chicka doesn't have shank feathers either
hmm.png
, but you know..that is okay, not breeding her and to be honest, I like the 'clean' legs more anyway...not that the feathered don't look good too..i just prefer clean...

...I think she is very nice Blarney.

I know! She's really pretty. And definite dark brown eggs too. Sooo tempting.
da Hubby says we have enough right now and I'm not gonna push the issue until I get the run extended again at least. XD

Chickenboy100, the turkey should still be there, he was not 'displaying' when I saw him, thought I'd get a picture later, but then had to leave in hurry.  There were quite a few good looking turkeys at the show.  I wonder if the Champion Turkey from the Farm Show is the same one that was Show Winner at the Lebanon County Fair….Anyone know?

Yes. Pretty sure its the same turkey. Beautiful bird!

Come on, danielle.... Chicka needs a friend of the same breed!! I thought it was easier to ask for forgiveness, than permission.... Hehehe!

Nothing like Mother Nature whipping your *** and putting you in your place.
I slipped, like in an old three stooges movie, both feet straight up in the air and flat on my back. I am laying in 2 degree weather laughing at myself. HA! I get up and check on my girls and the home depot water supply that was supposed to stay warm turned into an orange 5 gallon lollipop with all frozen nipples.
There was still water in the other heated waterer which is just a plastic rectangular bowl. It was low and needed refilled. So I walk 350 feet back up the hill and get more water. I came back down even more cautiously and still managed to fall again and roll down the hill with a gallon milk container of water. I was freakin frozen down there.
I got up went to the coop and put the water in the bowl. I grabbed my chair and stepped into the coop and sat inside with them to warm up a bit. All 24 of us just sitting there looking at each other. Me in my chair and them in there roosts.

I couldnt help laughing reading your post....sounds like my adventures when I dont wear my cleats on my shoes, here my waters I use with aquarium heaters and they never freeze up

Aquarium heaters! Clever. Now does the water leak or dribble much when the chickens are drinking? I've never had these kind of waterers, and read that it could be an issue...is it?
