silkie, I tried to crop and bring that pic in better....he doesn't seem to have the body shape of most EE roosters or temperment....he really is the sweetest little rooster ever...he is small, just a little taller than the bantam cochin.

he also has very dark legs, almost a dark smokey color..

I do that! Duckies love tire nests.

I'm betting he is a cross between my EE bantam roo & my oegb/ameraucana hen. My roo is a blue silver duckwing with very dark blue legs. The hen is a bbr color with the puffy amer cheeks & green legs. She lays a pretty little blue/green egg. The only other hen it could have been is a cream colored ee who lays a bit greener egg. My roo will let you pick him up & carry him around but is protective of his hens. He has a bit of a squeak to his crow. I can tell him from my big boys easily when I hear him.

Well, it is official: Babs is on the molting up-swing and Ginger is going down...she looks like he**....poor girl! Going to be adding vits/mins w/ electrolytes and keeping with the VetRX to stave-off any colds that could take advantage of girls weaker immune systems while going through their moulting process....Also Atilla (BLR) is doing her feather explosion thing too, but she doesn't look as haggard as Ginger.
Have some awesome news...EGG #2 from Chicka again!!!

Hey, Ray...Todd and I have talked about raising rabbits also.... a future endeavor. We are keeping busy right now with getting the chickens the way we want..and now with starting the turkey & meat birds...well, our plate is pretty full....***we watched those Norwegian rabbits get judged on the TV yesterday at the Farm Show...not to many of them there, but they sure are cuties!!! I think they would do great up here in the mountains, could handle the cold real well!!! and not too big, just the right size.
Have to continue to get caught up on the thread...was a lot to look over

...good excuse to need/take a break from ..well, anything!!
awesome!

I've often asked myself...What exactly constitutes a 'good home'? Does this imply that we're not to eat him?

Wing...that is one pretty boy, whatever he is...

Heather, LTNS= Long Time No See.

B:

I've fostered 10 pups...all placed....argued with the agencies about this...and yes adopting a pet and eating them is not 'a good home'....that said most folks just want to be nu-ensconced from unwanted chooks and are asking permission(s) to clear their conscience....

Wing: Here is the daddy roo. As you can see, he's really calm & likes his neck scratched. His legs are really dark blue. Ignore the scaly look. He has beem treated 4 times since I got him 10 months ago. It's just the darn bead skin still flaking off. He looked AWFUL when I got him. Had to have ivermectin & crisco both. He looks much better now.

WOW!!
I went searching for things to do with old tires, remember we are a farm with lots of road frontage,,,people like to throw their trash out in our fields,,,often find tires along the road..

Yep. He throws pretty babies. About 20% are blue. The rest show varying degrees of the momma's coloring. Your boy is showing his bbr momma's coloring.
