Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

my previous post of chickens that come to mind was in response to someones post asking what additional type of chicken they should get...........but on this site..........you would probably get a tone of recommendations..................these are just some on my list!

Why do people around here shoot after dusk?? Here is a shot I took the other night just as a shot rang out. Tonight it was pitch black, but I didn't have my phone. Doesn't seem safe, there outta be a law….oh, that's right, there IS.

My pair is sneezing. Oh my God why is every chicken I've ever bought sick?!? I'm not POSITIVE they're sick, but they're sneezing about every five minutes. Just a little "psh" sound. Then there's a little bit of nasal discharge. I'm treating them with antibiotics early. They'll be a part of my flock. @terryg had resp. illness in her flock last fall and then got chicks in the spring. She said she's had the "carriers" and hatchery pullets together for almost a year now will no ill effects. So I hate to say it but I'm not really a believer in the whole carrier thing.

Yeah I have a quite a few neighbors happy confused that I have chickens too. Heehee! You'd be the first to call me a hero, and last of course. Then I have neighbors that say 'why'? But I say i should have done this 15 years ago.
Good for you! I can just imagine how you're making their Parker heads spin. Had my family here for Christmas, they are all from Ridley and Prospect Parks, my niece looks around, listens to a goat milking story and says, ' Who ARE you?!'

OK< Peking Duck! Tell me about adding one to my current flock, Pros and Cons, before I say yes to the BF and to the person giving it away,... AND GO!!!!

ahhhh let's suffice it to say they are NOT on my wish list….although they seem to keep making onto my property somehow.

Do your goats do well in the kennel housing? If they do, goats might be doable for me.

I have visions of them eating the tarps. (My chicken housing is a collection of kennels and tarps. Hubby might not ever notice I have goats if they can deal with the same setup, lol.
Those goatees would be mine.

Although they could use the kennel for housing, we just have it as an additional place to get out of the rain, keeping the door open at all times now. It was originally put in the run to separate the goats who had just kidded from each other at the vets recommendation, now it is pretty convenient to keep them in one spot when rounding up to trim hooves or get in line for vet check. This is what their actual housing looks like ~ repurposed 4 x 6 wood shed.

Oh NO!! I know you're being good to them, but anything additional you can think of to keep their stress down, DO. Can you give them probiotics?

I have the Sav-A-Chick packets. I've had ACV in their water since I got them. I've looked up videos of chickens with respiratory issues and all of my chickens that I've ever had with respiratory problems didn't sound like that. I think those are the severe cases though.
