Hi Everyone!!!! I have been so busy I havent had the time to follow much on here! :( Hope all is well!!! I know its not chicken related but I was wondering if you guys would help spread the word about our pups! They are ready to go to their forever homes!!!

u know I love them! I suggest listing online on the free sites... ebay classifieds is a VERY good one, and it does pay to spend the extra cash and post on AKC website~

Opinions please. They say it'll cost $700 to build. Maybe I could just buy the $500 one at Calico. LMP, have you seen the one in their lobby?

Bah you could build it for less, use 2x3 instead of 2x4, you could also use OSB in place of T111, you have to paint either one. I am sure theres a few more corners you could cut to get the price down, depends how much your willing to do. You could use pallet wood in place of the t111 as well if you have a supply of pallets and willing to break em down.

Hey all:

After looking at the long term forecast, we still have a very long stretch of extremely cold weather....I have been giving the chooks who are snowed in to the coop double feed supplies to keep up with their energy needs...

In general, I think chooks are pretty tough...but, a couple of weeks of wind chills near 0 is a lot to ask from a non arctic bird (by the way a pair or arctic owls have been hanging around Barnegate bay)....so, I am looking for Ideas...

I am definitely going to hang a suet feeder in the coop and set them up with a brick a day....
Didn't want to, but I may add a heat lamp....(creates a world of other problems)
Given that the snow will not melt, I will be tossing a couple of apples a day in the coop to keep them per-occupied..(I will core them first)
Was thinking about giving the chooks some jello, I have alot of this sitting on the shelf (any downside?)

Your thoughts welcomed.....

I was just thinking about processing and eating them after they thaw in the spring

My niece emailed me to tell me that she got an egg today from the Heritage (German) New Hampshires. She was real excited (I am too). It's probably too cold to hatch, and being the first, may not even be fertile, but I was expecting them to wait until it warmed up more. I guess being developed in New Hampshire, they are nonplussed by the cold.
