wasn't my idea, husband wanted to try winters down here and since I 'm from here, down we came, I miss my animals so much I feel like staking out the feed stores and following home anyone who buys chicken feed

Just got back from the ER, 3rd time there in as many weeks. First my Mom, then DH, tonight was my Mom again, she keeps falling. Everyone's good. I really hope I don't get the flu, ERs have the tendency to be filled with sick people. Go figure.[/COLOR]

Sorry to hear about the ER trips... never something you want to do for your evening.  I hope the problems are all improving... though it sounds like your Mom may need more help (physical therapy or occupational therapy may help improve her strength and balance to reduce fall frequency, and she may benefit from the therapist's evaluation of the cause of the falls). Many folks just assume they will loose balance and such with age, which is true to an extent, but there may be exercises or alternate methods to do things that may help her make the most of her abilities.  I don't mean to be an internet doctor or a 'butt-in-ski' when I am not involved at all, but a lot of folks associate therapy with recovery from an injury but I view it also as a way to prevent injury.... if not already involved in therapy her doctor may be able to arrange an evaluation if she is interested.

Unfortunately for me there is no therapy for 'klutzy'! :barnie :lau

Good advice, thank you. She does get physical therapy, I really think it helps. they just 'upgraded' her wheel chair, I think the chair is bothering her and she's trying to get out of it. She's never been a wanderer so this is just my opinion.

And just because I can't seem to get enough of them...I'll be in Children's Hospital tomorrow all day with my son. Wish I had some of Stake's Hard Cider....I'd be sneaking it in a thermos.;)

My mom has been hiding from Ohio weather in Florida for the past 3 winters. My grandparents have been going for years now. I feel like stuffing all the critters, food & clothes in the camper & following their example. I just need a truck to haul the camper.

well, we haven't been down here for the winter since 1969 but guess we're going to try it since hubbys knees hurt so bad and he can't take the cold anymore. I miss my animals
