just sharing something I came across,    for this is the main reason I started growing my own everything year's ago,,,,,,I have an auto-immune disease and chemicals can really affect this....so I figured the chemicals I was eating had to also have an affect...

Yep definitely. We're growing as much as we can this year. Mostly trying to avoid GMOs.

how awesome is that one!

Can someone help me please!!! I am stumped and very upset. The past 2 days ive lost 3 hens all the same way. Both mornings I have walked into the chicken coop and found my henss dead. Their vent was freakishly wide open and all their insides are gone. Their heads are still intact but there is no sign of
struggle or anything . Any insight or help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to hear of your lose...aside from the other suggestions, I would suggest you need to secure the coop...I would try the canned expandable insulation wherever you see an entry point...if they decide to chew through it, you will still know where they are getting in....my two cents....

About the chemicals........................I totally agree!

I think its what behind so much illness now in our world.

we have been "processing" too much food in ways that are very unnatural for primarily convenience sake................and our health may be suffering.

I have read on many sites................that we should go back to cooking like our grandmothers did..............

meat---veggies------home cooked ------------not so much out of a box and zapped.

I am guilty of the easy cooking foods..........and am trying to do better.

I am hoping my veggie garden will also help me this year.

Plus------the GMO and pesticides etc on seemingly healthy foods.........is worrisome.

We cant worry so much that we don't do anything or have a worry problem..........but little forward steps might make a difference..............

I am reading and learning about which fruits and veggies are healthier -----due to chemicals ..........etc than others.............

Tractor Supply in York now has chicks and ducklings in stock. They had red sex links, dark brahamas straight run and a bin of yellow chicks marked "Ameraucana pullets"

I think they may be mis-marked.

The ducklings were cute little brown ones with brown feet ~ no breed listed.

If the ducklings are uniform brown, they are khaki campbells, the best egg layers. Because they lay so well, the ducklings are fairly cheap to produce.

The yellow chicks *could* be real white ameracaunas, instead of the multi-colored "easter eggers" that you usually see. But that is a very long shot, much more likely to be leghorns or buff orpingtons. What color were their legs?

I am pretty sure they are not pure Ameraucanas ~ I have some of those. This TSC gets their chicks from Mt. Healthy and they sell "Easter Egger/Americanas" I didn't take a close look at them as my husband was with me and we were they to get feed only. He wouldn't let me linger by the chicks.

Last year I got 5 EE's from Agway who also gets from Mt. Healthy and was there when they got their delivery ~ only 2 out of 25 were yellow most of the rest were chipmunk striped. I got one of the yellows which is now pure white and a darker one which is a pretty silver duckwing like color. I would love to have a couple more like her ~ she is really sweet.
