This is her one son we have.
I apologize for my mini freak out last night. Everyone made it through the night, even without a divorce! I think I had one chick who was lonely and wouldn't shut up.
She would only stop peeping when someone came into the room and gave attention. *She was also the first escape artist. Anywho, the peeping stopped shortly after midnight. Pics to come later....
Happens to most people their first time. The first time I had a chick hatch, I sat up the entire night watching, and I was only 6. My mom could not get me to go to bed, even though it was mostly watching him breathe. That was not her first indication she has a "weird kid", but she loved to tell that story.
It never really gets old though. You won't get so anxious next time with this, but there will be other things. I helped one little breda chick out and he was very weak, kept falling on his back. I fussed over him and finally got him propped up in between the remaining eggs so he could sleep (chickens are not good back sleepers). This morning he is fine, seems to have fully absorbed his yolk sac and is in with the other 19. They run over him a lot, but so far he's sitting up as he should.
Your little escape artist may be the flock leader some day. It also sounds like she is naturally imprinted on people more than the others.
do you have any trouble with fishers at all? I wouldn't mind keeping an outdoor cat (we have one indoor) but I've heard horror stories of fishers coming and killing cats. I've seen two of them since we moved here (last June)
Have never seen a fisher here at all. If I did it wouldn't last long... Lol we are big hunters and have no problem getting rid of pests..
Our cats are indoor/outdoor cats. They mostly come inside during the winter.. But want out periodically throughout the day.
Oh, my, freaking gosh! It is sooo COLD! I just took the twins to their bus stop and nearly froze my tuckas off... Go away winter!!!!!
I call Tractor Supply every day, and what I got today was "Yes, we received a small shipmet today".e Guess where I'm going tonight? I can't get anything though.
Sending out a desperate plea for hatching eggs that will give me fluffy yellow peeps to set next Thursday. If you or anyone you know locally (within driving distance) has anything, PLEASE pm me.
My mom's friend is a photographer and is doin easter photos. She asked me if I could hatch her peeps and I said of course (assuming Priscilla would be laying by now), but it doesn't look like I'll be able to get half a dozen eggs by next Thursday. Darn. Buff cochin chicks would have been perfect. If anyone has any eggs I could hatch just give me a price. I only need a half dozen. Please no crested chicks.
If you have any pekin duck eggs I'd take that as a last resort.

I have rainbow babies uf you don't find anything else. They usually throw about 20-25% white since 3 hens & 1 roo are white.
I have cats. Nothing gets past them. No need for traps or poison.
I also have cats... Keeps the little critters away nicely.. If you need some... Lol I have a half Siamese that is prego..
My only female who isn't fixed just came into her first heat & all 3 males are having a go at her. We'll be having kittens by summer.
argh, I know! Mine don't meet the bus till 9:15 today. They had a hoe delay because of the cold but the thermometer still says it's 0° out
It's just crazy! I am so over and done with winter! We didn't get a half day here... Kinda glad, have too many things to do today. Lol 4 kids - half day = next to nothing completed...
