Was out running errands all day yesterday with DH.

Ended up at TSC in Hazleton. I was just about hyperventilating with excitement when I noticed, upon pulling into the parking lot, a big sign saying they had gotten their chicks in.

Rushed right to the back of the store. (DH beat me there by a second or two despite absolutely forbidding me to get more chickens ^_^) I love how he continues to lie to himself on the subject. lol!

Anyway, all they had was a bin of assorted pullets, "red chicks", whatever that is, Gold Laced Wyandottes, and little brown ducklings.

No Brahamas or Silkies anywhere in sight.

So we did our shopping and went home.

Last night I dropped daughter #2 off at her school dance and daughter #1 and I went to TSC in Saint Clair. Again, that lovely sign at the entrance. Ran to the back of the store...more assorted pullets, "red chicks" SILVER Laced Wyandottes, and little brown ducklings.

I did notice a sign there saying they could special order chicks for us. Minimum of 25 chicks...

Yeah, if I want to be stuck with 20+ extras I have no space and/or use for I'll order from a hatchery myself thank you very much.

I'm getting ahead of myself anyway. I know I should wait till it's warmer before I get any new chicks. I am soooo ready for Spring!

They are cute! I know that folks traditionally like the little yellow ones, but I have always had a soft spot for the brown chipmunks myself!... though who am I kidding... I adore all of them!
I am so tickled we have so many broody hens this winter, finding corners to tuck them all has caused some creative rearranging in the coop, but seeing all the little ones running around is worth it!

Such adorable babies!

I don't know if I have Spring Fever this year or Chick Fever XD.

So I keep thinking about those bins of "Assorted Pullets" at TSC.

All of them were chipmunk colored. So I know there are no Barred Rocks, RIR, RSL, or White Leghorns in there.
What breeds have chipmunk colored chicks?

Though I have my heart set on a single Brahma, Silkie, CCL, and hopefully BCM for my last 4 hens. I am soooo tempted to get half a dozen of those chicks to grow out just to see what they turn into.
