Will you be able to find a suitable substitute for them now that incandescent bulbs are being phased out? I am not being sarcastic, I am just wondering what folks will switch to in their homemade bators. Will you go to a heating element instead? I have been wanting to try building my own for some time, but I know nothing about wiring...

yes they will be available. they will be sold as a work type light instead I forget what they called them in the articles I was reading about them. I did my homework on that one, there are other types of lights that also give off the necessary heat as well. I wouldnt put a heating element in a cooler, I have seen it done but I wouldnt do it. http://sfist.com/2013/12/27/did_you_know_incandescent_light_bul.php
Good to know. I suppose "rough service" bulbs are probably better for an installation like this anyway, in case they get bumped around at all. I wonder how long before they ban those as well...
