still watching the weather for the mealworms,, I want the temps to stay above freezing for the entire transport,,, hopefully soon,,,so if anyone else wants some get your address in to me with in the next 2 weeks or so.....

or those close by, I plan on a green dragon trip with in the next couple weeks,,,I have the funeral stuff this friday, if that is done soon enough it could be this week, if not it will be my next friday off ?

Is anybody else still having trouble with this time change,,,I keep gettin up late, and just can not get with it....

and I am not an early riser to begin with when I am on this shift.

so tell me what you all do to force yourself up and with it..it would help if the house was not cold,,hate to get out from under those covers

The dogs make sure we don' sleep in too late at our place... since they don't believe in Daylight Saving's Time.... though it is way too easy to crawl back under the covers once the animal are tended to... a good large cup of strong black coffee right off the bat helps get things kick started though.

question for duck people ??

I have a pen with my jumbo pekin in, then I got the french white scovy, these birds are huge and make the pekin look like bantam,,,,here's the problem, the scovies seem to be hurting the pekin, not on purpose, it is just a size difference thing,,,,

I am selling out of the pekin because of this reason,,,,

is this normal for the scovy, they are not mean at all, they are just big,,, right now I can not set up another pen, any suggestions till the pekin an be picked up,,they are sold just waiting for pick up, so I hate for any ore to get injured

I'm so tired in the morning too!!! I hate messing with the clocks, leave them alone!!! What gets me going is I have to get my son up and on the bus by 6:30. That is my major job in the morning. He is not a morning person and I'm not a morning person either lol

I have perennials that I would like to trade for hatching eggs.  I am in SE Lanc. Ct.  I would like to set the eggs on 3/18 to hatch a day before our daughter receives her day-old chicks.  I would prefer local to shipping.

I'm in northwest Lancaster country, add is wingstone. I'm sure either of is can provide eggs most any time. What ate you looking for in breeds?

Since everyone was talking about broodies yesterday, I had to share this picture. These are two of my new wyandottes, Pebbles and Snow. I'm wondering if Pebbles is going to grow up to be broody lol.

Precious!

Just wanted to show how fast broilers grow. This is a 2 day old next to a 16 day old. These beasts grow fast. Look what a difference there is in just 2 weeks!
Awesome reference! DS would like to get them, I'm trying to talk him into using Chicqueschicks strategy and having TSC foot the bill for the first 2 weeks of feed.

Hi everyone. I'm hoping someone can help me out. I live in the Shippensburg, PA area
and I am looking for Sizzle chicks. This is our first year for chickens and besides Tractor supply I am clueless as to where to get chicks.

There are alot of different breeds of chickens being bred everyday here. I'm sure someone near you can help. You can click on the map to see who is by you. http://www.communitywalk.com/pa_bycers/map/1552784

Good Morning! Chcicken question for the experienced chickeneers... My chicks are about 2-3 weeks old, and we (my husband mostly) starting realizing that they are awake and scratching-cheeping etc. all night intermittently. I suspect they eat -drink-sleep-poop repeat all the time, but we haven't noticed it because they had quieter peeps. Are the becoming more active or are we just hearing them more? When do they start to sleep through the night? Again, everyone seems healthy and happy (and constantly looking for treats. :drool Just checking in to make sure this is normal. Thanks!
This could have a bit to do with heat & light. If you use the red or ceramic emitter bulbs they are more likely to sleep more through the night. I use the regular white lights & mine are up through the night too, but it doesn't bother me. If you make it darker at night they should stay a bit quieter at night.

My alarm goes off at 6am. I shove my daughter out to go plug in the bird lights. By the time she rolls out & gets back up through the trap door the 2nd alarm goes off at 6:30am to wake my son up & get them both ready for school. Then I have to feed, water & clean up after all the animals. Then take care of the house...kids' homework, supper, baths, and finally crawl into bed & try to get a couple hours of sleep before starting over again.

I ran my runners & scovies together without any problems so not sure why there should be an issue since pekins are about 3 times the size of runners.
