Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I'm so sorry! My shepherd did the same thing to two of my hens. I was lucky enough to catch him early and nurse them back to health. Good luck.
Im also in SE PA. We have duck eggs in the incubator...

Did Stake just say I have a big rack?

who? me?

Aurora-----------I am also so sorry to hear bout this.......................after getting attached etc............makes it so much worse..............it will be awful with the kiddos too.............but at least you all can share this emotion together..........not sure that will make it that much better but you will share a tragic bond.

I am feeling very bummed and not sure if I can keep coming to this site and bear seeing chick pics!

I feel this is a really stupid injustice by a family member!

they don't realize its not that big of a change from what I already have.

brooding outdoors is not an option a this time.............I don't think my hens would teach the chicks and its too cold

and basement and shed have been all nixed................basically NO MORE is the statement

I only have 4 and I had the whole 50th birthday party coop thing planned...............

one important life lesson that I am learning ( in pun format ) is

NEVER COUNT YOUR CHICKS BEFORE THEY HATCH!

in so many ways..............

this will stick with me!

I am thinking after some recovery time..............this family drama-------will lead me to get quail much sooner!

I no it is not the same but how about looking for chicks that are old enough to be outside.

OK, the next best thing is to foster out your chicks to someone close by and then get them back after they are large enough to be out with the others.

I wonder who on this thread is the closest to you. How many chicks do you have in the house now?

just wanted to say, when I am at work in a grease pit (my view of the place, actually a bakery)...I am in jeans and t shirt....when home I am in chicken tending clothes........I am now in good clothes to go to a funeral and I am sweaty and uncomfortable,,,,,,,maybe I really am a country hick...

I would put them in my bedroom and shut the door. When asked if I got rid of them (don't lie just say) you told me to didn't you?! You'd be making more of a questionable statement than actually answering the question. Good luck with whatever happens.

I actually don't have them yet..................they were due this week .................week of March 10th from Pickering Valley but I they have not gotten them all in yet............I guess.........

I had set up the brooder etc on Monday so I would be ready.................the set up was found on wed................still no chicks in the house and then the statement

NO MORE CHICKENS........in the house, outside etc

I have 3 nearly one year old and one nearly 2 year old hens now.

I thought about having them in the brooder at a friends...........who volunteered, or the basement, etc.............but the no more thing makes it a problem.

I rent from family.

generally this has not been a problem...........in fact its a blessing....................up until this..............

people are still more important...........but this is just a real big bummer.....................

gotta give this some time..............................

sometimes all "relationships" have their less than ideal moments........................

I would describe this as definitely "less than ideal"

yet maybe quail ..............will be fun to look forward to?
