More chick pics!

The pics with just 2 are the 2 Bredas, one splash and one blue. They seem to stick close to each other, I guess since they were hatch buddies.

Not in the picture is the lone New Hampshire. It was the only one and very late hatching. I finally had to help, and it's toes are crooked, do now it has band-aid booties (orthopedic footwear for chicks).

Look what I brought home for wifey today!

OH my! You are the best hubby ever!

Two days to chickens! My sister called to say she would be coming up. With my niece. They want chickens also but can't where they are. I can't believe how happy I am to finally be doing this.:weee

Whoot!. :jumpy

@Silkie, I know nothing about Breda, but DHetzel's pic seems to be showing feathered legs...

@Brittany, Of COURSE there's a way to test if an egg is fertile without cracking it....put it in an incubator!
.

Bredas have extreme feathers on their feet, longer than any other breeds I can recall. Makes them walk a little funny sometimes, and probably slows them down. They also have almost no comb at all. There is info out there on google as well as BYC. I think Greenfire re-introduced them to America a few years back, and they are still pretty scarce. H&H has them, that's where my friend got them.

I got 7 foot wild life netting around the garden to keep the chickens from eating my seedlings. Worked on it for 2 hours this morning, ran out of netting twice! But got it done before the rain, YAY!

My Teeth HURT. I can feel my heart beat in them, I hope I can sleep.

Quote: I think the serama have a home, and the bresse has me baffled, the OE has feathered legs, but the color doesn;t make sense, only other rooster is there at the time and for a few weeks before that is a young bantam cochin, he seems to young and small, e has just started crowing in the last week.... let me think on this one, even if one of the bresse boys would have jumped the fence, the feet do not make sense, what color are the feet.

Quote: yep, sure can fill up a incubator, it's fun to fill up someone else's.......my boys like to pass that dna around...speaking of that I need a dozen of whatever eggs for the 29th

Wing, their starting to hatch already! I have at least one external pip and I can hear more chirps!

See, here is my proof... Lol
can not remember when they were set,,,,I do have some bantam roosters in that pen, that may make hatch a little early.....come to think of it most of my silkie mixes hatch early, let us know how it goes.
