Hey, we have dippy eggs here in Ohio too...lmao
No dippy eggs here. We call em over easy.

And SS...I believe I've lucked into one of your turkey eggs which are developing quite nicely. So Thank You!

They get called over easy here to, but usually dippy at my house because that's what the kids call them.

Ans how did you end up with 1 of MY turkey eggs? I know I sent some to Sara but I don't remember sending any to you.

Chicken math is a horrible thing. Hopefully these chicks wont stick around long enough to see how many are roos. I may play eenie, meenie, minie moe and hope to keep a few girls

That's a sure way to end up with all roos.

it is amazing isn't it? A guy my husband works with actually argued with him over ameraucanas/easter eggers that there's no way any need of chicken lays blue/green eggs and if they do is something you feed them. All chicken eggs are white. *Rolls eyes*

Robins eat worms and lay blue eggs, so if your chickens lay blue eggs, it must be because you feed them worms.

Simple logic, or the logic of the simple?

Where do I look on this site to find some pullets to buy in the Pittsburgh area? I'm looking for several breeds...Silver Laced Wyandotte, Golden Comet & some different Orpingtons (I have 2 Buffs). Thanks.

I was just educated about the greatest invention for those of us without an "easy" way to scald our birds. And it doesn't entail doing it in the tub either (I won't tell who did that. Haha. Teasing!).
Model 724G Bucket Heater made by Allied Precision Ind. Tractor Supply carries it in the winter. It is $36.99 according to the website, but out of season, so out of stock. I will have to look for one elsewhere.

go to forums and then buy, sell, and trade. You can place an ad there for what type looking for or look at what others have. Also try Craigslist or pennswoods.net. I just found 2 silver laced wyandottes on there yesterday. I don't know whew the nearest tractor supply is to you but I know ours almost always had golden comets. Good luck!

Miserable hatch, under 50%. Weather was bad when I gathered, that cold first week in March. Certain days did better than others, I had dated them.
Light ones are silkie mix, I can't keep her out of the pen. 5 darker are SFH.
See what happens with the next batch.
It seems most of us have had issues this winter, trouble with weight loss because of the cold and humidity all winter, running dry has been working until about day 14 and some even 18. I have had the sloppiest hatch ever the end of last year! ughhhhh may we get better from here on out!

Just popping in to say I miss everyone lol
Enjoyed walking dogs this afternoon at work, even though the yard is a puddle and the wind kept trying to blow away the little doggies xD

I'm afraid my broody hen isn't actually broody, lol It was my understanding that they'll get off the nest occasionally for food and drink and such but she was out and about in the run scratching to her hearts content. *rolls eyes* The eggs in the nest were still warm but then I had to leave for work. I hope she got her fluffy butt back on that nest! *sighs*

Hope everyone has had a great Monday!
