Hatching question:

I currently use auto turners and use a cooler bator as a hatcher.
If I were to try an entire incubation in a cooler, how often would I need to turn?
Reason for question: due to my schedule I could only do it about three times a day, but there are some days I'm gone over half the day (14 hours) how would I schedule that, and would it work?
you can turn to your schedule, it is what it is, its not optimum by any standards, chance of malpositions is higher, and turning the first 14 is important. 96 x a day is optimal

I have hatched many in the regular coolers and yes I had mals, but overall you have to do what fits your needs too. I love the cabinet coolbator with the turning all trays at once, I turn them about 18 x a day now. whodathunk I would run down a flight of steps so often!

now if we had an elevator I would do them more!

I forgot the other bad news that we got on Monday while burying Belle.
I posted that my great grandfather wasn't feeling well and I was helping out the day my turkeys came in. Well... He was feeling weak because of low blood count. He's bleeding internally. The cancer in his prostate wasn't caught in time and the cancer has spread all through his body. He can't come home because of the rate of the internal bleeding. I told my mom that is is going to be a bad year. Horse, my pap is terminal with cancer, my great grandfather, my mom was diagnosed with severe arthritis in her shoulder, back and arm - doc says crippled within a few years and my gram has severe arthritis in her legs. Yeah, 2014 is not a healthy year for my family.

I am really hoping things don't keep going this way.

FIGS!

I know several of you wanted to try to grow figs. I have been spring cuttings in my basement all winter from three varieties. (Yes, there are different kinds] If any one wants to try rooting some, pm me.

I have no idea if they are still viable. I'm really not sure the best way to start them, either.
