Thankfully things with grandpap are going smoothly.
Everything else is not.
I have a small issue. Night, my cat who had 5 kittens this morning, has not dried them or herself. The placentas are still attached. Can I cut the cords? If so, how far from their stomachs? Do I need to do something to limit blood flow? Disinfect? I have no iodine but have triple antibiotic some place. I really have never had a cat this dumb about having babies.
ETA: Night lost a lot of weight during pregnancy. She was already a small cat - an Asian body type - and now her hips and back bone are sticking out. I am actually afraid she may not be able to nurse these kittens. She did bag up a little, but not a lot. I was going by that for when she was due. I knew it was soon, but she didn't really have enough milk - especially for 5 kittens!
BTW - Night is a blue calico. Looks like we have one orange, two blacks a blue tabby and either a black or blue calico.
Give her and the kittens goats milk you can get it at tsc in a powder works great
