Thanks. I try hard to keep them all healthy and here is my payment for my efforts. I also don't breed from the week and sickly, so that should make a difference too.

Ahah suppose i have never hatched from my own hens i usually go to my friend for fertile eggs, this year i am doing it with my incubator i am hatching 46 eggs loads of different breeds so i hope i get a few ahah

I have no idea what my chick will look like. Swedish flowers are all colors and change as they grow, and the mother is of unknown origin. I can guess the egg color will be tan if it is s hen. That chick is only 3 weeks. There are others from the same hen in different colors and some don't have feathered legs. Barnyard mix. Just pretty, most likely.

Quote: I run 3 roos with about 17-18 hens, so 5-6 hens per roo. That gives me 100% fertility most of the time. When I only ran 2 roos in that pen I would have a few clears. Currently, there are 21 hens & 6 roos in that pen, but 3 of those roos & 3 hens don't really belong in there. Since they have been remotely peaceful toward each other I have left them until I can build more pens.

Mixes always make the most interesting flocks

I have a small (4x8) coop I started with I have installed electric with a line voltage thermostat connected to one outlet. I plugged in a heat lamp so it shouldn't get over 75 or 80. I'm planning on moving two and the week olds to it this weekend. They are accustomed to temperature variation, the room they are in has varied from 57-84 this week so even with heat lamps they have been in a great variation. Doesn't seem to hurt them. My heat lamps are set on dimmers in the house, so I just look at their behavior and adjust accordingly (when I'm around)

anyone want them? I got rid of 5 POL birds yesterday because I didn't have space. And 30 in the brooder. And 23 eggs in hatcher, and 50 in incubator ( not counting the turkey) and a couple dozen going in this weekend. Lol

I'm on mobile, so can't multi quote... but the chicks are all beautiful! CC the little Swedish mix is going to be an interesting looking bird, Troyer you have a very happy looking family!

CC, looks like you'll have to hang up some 'chicks for sale ' flyers at the local grocery stores and feed stores! I guess we are doing okay with our broody numbers then! LOL
